PlastiscGuy 21,241
Why do we, us gays, enjoy so much the female empowerment? And I ask this because It's not something that I really see in straight guys' environment (Not all of them, I met a lot of people that are very supportive of the feminist movement, but still) So I think it's funny we developed so much admiration for women and their empowerment in particular (at least some, I know there are misogynist gays too ) Could it be because we relate homophobia to patriarchism? Can we relate to women as we're a minority oppressed by the patriarchism too? PG.

Quartz 12,553
Maybe because the inner queens in gays have found a champion? IDK Inside, we are really made the same. 🕊

Trxstan 1,621
I think there is a certain appreciation for femininity as a source of power and not weakness. Society has traditionally seen masculinity as the hallmark for authority, and the fact that women are able to assert their own autonomy without denying their identity- that is what gays want and respect woop hey there keep scrolling

McYves 1,612
Well, I can't talk about all the gays, only one (me). I love female singer-songwriters because of their lyrics, music and art. I guess it's because it's very, very hard to find a guy in the music industry who's talking about his deepest feelings and thoughts in his art. I love how these women are in touch with both their masculinity and feminity and how they express her thoughts in a very different way. I don't know, maybe I'm missing some great male singer-songwriters (recommendations, anyone?) but I prefer to listen to Alanis Morissette singing about religious hypocrisy, empathy, catholic guilt, depression, etc., Gaga singing about safe sex, addictions, etc. rather than listen to Ed Sheeran singing about how he's in love with the shape of somebody. Whatever, just my opinion. Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch, just drink my ****ing coffee and watch 90's cartoons and hush
Ziggy 11,952
I'm just conjecturing here, but I think gay men tend to be a bit more vulnerable (because gay) and so from an early age they bond with other vulnerable figures who exude strength. Men don't do that as they aren't very vulnerable as public figures or figures in general (traditionally). So gay men latch onto women and in turn seek them out as a source of strength. This develops as we get older and we love to see a strong woman because we identify with that strength. It's ours. I actually don't think it has a great deal to do with the woman being strong, but with the relationship the man has to the figure. It's about the woman's womanhood, but not about *them*, if that makes any sense. That's just my two cents.

Doot 2
Because women are consistently seen as less than others, as are gays. Therefore gays relate to other marginalized groups.
