YaaaasGaga 6,119
How hands-on were you guys in terms of song selection with A Star Is Born?Gaga is obviously a genius. She’s hands-on in everything she does musically. She’s one of those great artists who probably doesn’t need help, but she’s also so super-smart that she’ll get opinions. She’s collaborative. Yes. She brought people in, like Lukas Nelson, as well as some she had worked with before, including Diane Warren, Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels, and Mark Ronson. She’s known Justin Tranter forever; she signed him here originally. They had been disconnected, and Justin and Julia were hot because they’d worked on Selena and other stuff, so we helped reconnect them. We also suggested Tom Elmhirst to mix; he mixes Adele. So we were helpful, but Gaga’s the conductor. http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=314109&title=MOVE-WITH-THE-FLOW:-THE-JANICK-WAY-OF-KNOWLEDGE-(PART-1)

The label pushed PI for sure and Gaga was probably pissed and promoted A-YO instead Too bad neither really took off
TEANUS 15,407
I think she is now but definitely was not in the past. ARTPOP was clearly heavily influenced by the label. But since her resurgence that she and Bobby pulled by relying on her talent, not gimmicks and promo, I feel they realize she’s a very smart businesswoman and that they should let her have most of the control British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

It would’ve been panned A-YO or Perfect Illusion were the best choices and I think PI was the best choice overall. With Spotify promo and an actual radio+TV push it would’ve done well. No one knew Gaga was back until Winter 2016/2017 with VSFS, SNL, Carpool Karaoke, SB51 British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS
