Tbh I respect her for giving up on being a palatable and ****able pop star. It may not have worked in her favor, but it was brave of her to try something different, especially after Prism's success.

It was the mediocre songs/singles, the weird performances and the rather dull videos that ruined the era.

I like the short hair.

Nope, we can not base her success/failure rate on her hair. I mean, I am sure it is a small factor (Miley comparisons and lack of sex appeal) but Witness was just a bad album. :reductive:

If people make that much of a big deal about hair then ****... what would they do if they actually look at the real world around them.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

People need to stop making excuses and accept that people simply tired of her never evolving discography and mediocre musical output. How does anyone expect to take her seriously when it seems she herself doesn't either.

Most people don’t even check for things like that. It’s so ridiculous to suggest that a haircut ruined the entire era :rip: Why did Miley continue to succeed with Bangerz when she cut all her hair off and went blonde? Because people liked the music. The average person tuned into the radio or browsing Spotify playlists likely has no idea what a pop star’s current hair style is, let alone care.

Don't get me wrong, I like her hair style. But imo her hair lets her appear "dumber". I mean, 'Is math related to science?' is an iconique mess :poot:. I don't say she's dumb. I say her hair doesn't do her a favor when it comes to it. And so she might not had been taken seriously and so the album flopped :oprah:

Honestly. I agree. I wouldn't say "ruined" but it definitely dented her image.

The thing with Katy Perry is that her whole brand from 2008-2016 was sex appeal. That's literally undeniable. I don't think the arguments in here about how the GP wasn't checking up on her image is true at all, her music was fine but her image bolstered her to 5 No. 1's on 1 album. When she cut off her hair, she essentially destroyed that sex appeal, she went from feline-esque sexy to I-want-to-speak-to-the-manager mom of 3... and people didn't find that appealing. It's an ugly reflection of how society is but sometime life just be like that.

It was one of the reason why people started making fun of her but what really ruined the era was the music itself :huntyga:

Ok I'll go further than this bitchy "no". Remember Rise? That didn't have much success either, and she still had her black hair, and it was her first single in a long time. What happened is that she had been so crazy successful for so long. And, as it happens with all crazy successful artists, people grew tired of her. Just like what happened to Gaga with ARTPOP. Now, the question is: will she get back up? If she does, great for her. If she doesn't, she still had an impressive run in the music industry.

Rice deserved better

Next time maybe puff Rice, so well it can puff on the charts
