I went Saturday for the 3rd time and it was better that time that any other time. I noticed different things, certain things clicked better and it's just nice to enjoy some truly amazing performances on the big screen again.

There really isnt even just an "ok" performance here. Everyone stands out. I could watch Sam Elliott all day long too.

This past showing was 1pm in the afternoon and it was a much bigger crowd than I imagined. Probably 35 people....pretty awesome for an early showing for a movie that's been out for 5 weeks!

That last few seconds is simply flawless and I love how the title comes up and you could hear a needle drop, nobody moves, theres just a "wow" stillness in the air. Very rare these days. Nobody was complaining on the way out. I heard things like "amazing", "she did so good", "what a shame"....its a conversation piece.

I said the movie choses the journey of fame as a metaphor for the journey of love....especially love with someone who may not be very stable, much like fame isnt always stable. How love can take unexpected roads, the highs are so high and the lows so low much like fame.

I cant wait to own this on Blu-ray and I PRAY TO THE GODS OF CINEMA for an audio commentary with Bradley and Gaga!

I saw it one time in screenplay quality streaming and it was enough... :derpga:

Spoiler

I love Gaga, and she is good as an actress in ASIB but the film in itself was kinda disapointing :saladga:

I've seen it 3 times and I finally realized what Jackson's pills was. It was a painkillers named Oxycondin, he takes it to help to mute his ringring sound in ears (tinnitus) but these pills cause addiction and side effects if you take them for a long time. So Jackson became addicted to them and things have really gone to sh*t. We can see it where he smashes the pill with his boot and snorts it, then goes on stage and hears a strong ringing, yep that's his tinnitus getting worse. That's what really happend in that scene, not him being high as someone might have thought

I am prescribed those for an illness I have and I only take them as needed...never one 3 times a day like they say to because they can be addicting as they tend to give certain people a buzz or a high so they get hooked.

Also meant to say, it FLEW by for a movie that's basically 2 and a half hours. It has never felt that long to me.

I think the reason some people didnt like it as much is because some shots take their time. He holds shots longer than most and the movie is actually very quiet aside from the music portions.

  • 2 weeks later...

This is turning into a week-end habit: 6th viewing yesterday. Observations: this movie gets better and better with subsequent viewing. Seriously. Is this because I am obsessed with the stars and their chemistry? I really do not think so. Very minimal audience (1 pm), Note: in a 10-screen multiplex, ASIB was all the way down at the very end, far walk for all the elderly people who were waiting to get into the 4:00 show. I feel like it keeps getting pushed down until one day very soon, it will be pushed out of the theaters altogether. What can we do about this?!?!?   *NO audience reaction to any part of the film (not even the Grammy scene)where reactions always heard in other screenings in key parts. * No one applauded in the end ('cept me, of course) *I caught alot of nuance I had not before, particularly in background of scenes / I have questions now, but I will start another thread. I have always been, my whole life, a repeat viewer of films I enjoy. But this is a whole new level of enjoyment. ASIB - a gift,- genuinely, truly!
