It had and it did good numbers for a musical. However, the release date was only some weeks later than the rest of the world, like Venom. There wouldnt be much point in releasing it in february. Even the Japan release date doesnt make any sense.

The Japanese release makes a lot of sense, all movies from the western hemisphere get released there substantially later, due to the different nature of the Japanese market. Japanese people in general wait until there's already a general consensus on a movie and then decide whether they wanna throw their money at it or not. If a film studio really believes in a movies success, they'll delay the Japansese release as much as possible so the movie can collect as many accolades as possible (Example: Frozen being released 6 months after its original release, after Let It Go smashed worldwide and the movie collected two Oscars, it went on to gross $247M alone despite the delayed release). If a studio is sure a movie will be a box office bomb, they're releasing the movie simultaneously. ASIB is somewhat in the middle, meaning that the studio saw potential in the movie but didn't expect the way it would blow up. If they knew, what they know now they would postpone the Japanese release until the Oscars.

It's also the same for music in Japan: Full-length music videos generally get released there a month before the actual single drops so that the public can make up their mind on whether they wanna purchase the song or not.

Isn't Gaga banned from China? Because she had that conversation with Dalai Lama? Someone educate me if im wrong?

OT: All green on uk itunes. I hoped Ari would slow down...

There were rumours that she's banned but someone from China clarified that its not true. Btw Dalai Lama lives near my hometown. I wish Gaga had visited Him there :giveup:

she's not officially banned in China, and you can still see her videos on television  sometimes( which would be impossible if the government really wants to ban her.) but she's still that weirdo in 2010 for a lot of chinese people and there are a lot of bad words in the movie so the chance it got imported in china is very very small:laughga:

today in the morning
imagine the life without gaga, I  would probably do tons of things a day.:fthis:
but I'm stuck in this one so I have no choice but spending hours listening to her songs over and over again because her voice is just too good.:legend:

Not really true. Bohemian rhapsody will be out in Japan this week. Not saying that they dont have a strategy. Maybe they didnt believe that ASIB will do so well, so wanted to promote it as an awards movie.

A Star is Born has dropped sub-35% five weekends in a row. The last 40M+ opener to do that was How to Train Your Dragon. If it manages to hold well next weekend, it will be the first 40M+ film to drop sub-35% six weekends in a row since Avatar.

:air:

ASIB will pass Pretty Woman tomorrow to become the 20th highest grossing R-rated movie of all time, unadjusted.

:air::air:

A Star is Born is passing $200M before the Oscar bump even arrives.
