I can understand why it is iconic, but I find it kinda heavy sometimes, as if she had set up a puzzle. Actually, her whole discography is like that. That's why I have to take a break from her once in a while. But, there are songs of hers that flow perfectly imo, like Judas, Dancin' In Circles, Poker Face, Million Reasons, Come To Mama, Grigio Girls,  Alejandro, Teeth and all AISB solo songs. Judas and Poker Face do sound like a puzzle sometimes too, but they don't have too many hooks like Bad Romance and their chorus are not apocalyptical like the chorus of Marry The Night and The Edge of Glory for example.

Also, it's not the best pop song ever created. There are some out there much better, at least in my opinion, like I Want Your Sex (George Michael), Taste It and Disappear (INXS), Dancing On My Own (Robyn), Take Your Mama (Scissor Sisters), Bring On The Dancing Horses (Echo & the Bunnymen), Shake It Out (Florence + The Machine), We Found Love (Rihanna). IDK, I feel like I prefer lighter songs which the composer pick a melody and stick to it; not every song has to have a big elaborated chorus + a millions hooks, sometimes the verses do the song (like Florence's Shake It Out). But I think it is not Gaga style and a lot of gays like that drama and that's ok. I do like Bad Romance's verses and chorus tho, but the rah rah part and that french bridge really turns me off.

Yes but even as a BR lover, I wouldn't call it "the best" but it is definitely one of the best.

"The Melody is so unique and complex"

lol

It is one of the best ever though. Not because of its complexity (it's actually super ****ing basic) but because of its production and Gaga's vocal performance. It's unbelievably raw and "rough", almost industrial in its sound, which is something most pop stars just refuse to go for.

It was a huge risk that paid off and that probably won't repeat itself again.

BR has the best bridge I've ever heard in my life in a pop song.

Whenever I hear her sing "j'veux ton amour et je veux ta revanche, j'veux ton amour, I don't wanna be friends" I get so amazed by her talent and just so proud of her. It never gets old.

Bad Romance definitely sounds like 2010 for me but its still a classic pop song. Its a magnificently camped up Bruce Springsteen-esque romp.

I guess it seems dated now because pop music is lost in hip-hop and latin/house influence and not industrial, anthemic Eastern European synths.
