I'm really excited about this movie. It seems to have everything I like in this world: violence, a shiny bloody depiction of mental illness and a twisted +30 years old avant-garde pop star wearing shoulder pads
ViviLittleM 3
As A Star Is Born returns to No.1 on the album chart, the Motion Picture Cast Recording’s breakout hit Shallow jumps three places to become Lady Gaga’s fifth No.1 single and Bradley Cooper’s first. Cooper is also the first chart-topper whose primary occupation is as a film actor to reach No.1 since Nicole Kidman paired with Robbie Williams for 2001 chart-topper Somethin’ Stupid. Gaga’s first No.1 since Beyonce pairing Telephone in 2010, Shallow (47,830 sales, including 34,406 from sales-equivalent streams) is one of three tracks from the film allowed to chart under primary artist rules, although the others – Gaga solo Always Remember Us This Way (31-25, 16,815 sales) and Gaga/Cooper track I’ll Never Love Again (34-27, 15,674 sales) - also continue to grow. A Star Is Born thus becomes the first soundtrack album to be No.1 at the same time as one of its singles since 1982, when the 1980 soundtrack Fame belatedly topped the chart at the same time as Irene Cara’s theme. James Horner’s Titanic soundtrack and Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On were subsequently No.1 between them for five weeks in a row in 1998, each having two separate runs at the summit without managing to synchronise them. It is the third time that Gaga has done the double. She did it in 2009 with Poker Face and debut album The Fame, and again the following year with Beyonce collaboration Telephone topping the singles list and the expanded The Fame Monster leading the album tabulations. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s Motion Picture Cast Recording of A Star Is Born bounces 2-1 on the album chart this week, on sales of 24,982 copies (including 6,645 from sales-equivalent streams) to record its own second week at the apex, and the 28th (out of 43) for soundtrack albums this year. The album’s return to pole position reflects the growing popularity of its key tracks, most notably Shallow, which tops the singles chart this week, as discussed in more detail in the singles analysis. GagaStan95 10,478
Wondering why italian radios are soooo reluctant to play Shallow.. it has never happened before that a Gaga’s song has this treatment. Is it for the structure? Or is it because it’s a song off a soundtrack? I don’t know what to think
