We have to recognize that ASIB (the film) is a quite local success. I mean:

-ASIB box office (so far): 104.4M USA (66.9%) / 51.6 M non-USA (33.1%)

-Mamma Mia 2 box office: 126.6M USA (30.7%) / 271.8 M non-USA (69.3%)

The comparasion doesnt really work. Everyone knows for example that the first Mamma mia did most of its money outside US. Mamma mia 2 follows the same path.

Also, A star is born didnt have a worldwide opening, so the non-US numbers at this point cant look better than what they are. We will be able to make more reliable comparasions after a month.

Mama mia is basically a Swedish europop musical...

Just wait for it to smash in Oceania and Japan and THEN we can compare box offices between USA and non-USA. Doing it now is not a fair comparison.

It’s been one week for most countries, others are just releasing the movie this weekend.

There’s nothing local about ASIB :laughga: actually, this is the first Gaga era in a while (dare I say, Born This Way?) that isn’t remotely local.

Interscope should release an exclusive/special edition in Japan ... exclusive poster, music videos, new cover, etc.

This picture could be the new cover: https://i.imgur.com/jI9Orbm.jpg (it's amazing!)

Japan is a different market, so you have to offer them something different. That's why physical albums are still a thing in Japan.

They LOVE musicals. If they love ASIB, they will RUN to buy the soundtrack.
