Ugh I feel so defeated. No matter what is said or done these people never fail to reach a new low. I'm with you. I have friends at work that are progressive and minorities even and they didn't vote. I didn't mean give up hope just be prepared to take the blows...which I guess we've been prepared to do ever since Nov. 2016 There's definitely hope, just that a few swing states or red states with democrats in office are starting to swing right but we turned Alabama and might turn Texas, two of the reddest states in the country, and that's not something to sneeze at. Besides, the GOP proved with Gorsuch that they'll change the laws if they have to in order to get their way. These senators forgot who they work for and whose interests they're supposed to represent. The majority of people in this country did not want Kavanaugh confirmed; either due to the allegations, his partition/paranoid temper tantrum, his dishonesty in the hearing, or simply because of his immature conduct and attitude. But they worked against the American people's wishes, rushed a process that they've already warped with the last SCOTUS pick, went against all norms, and confirmed him anyway. Just like ~90% of people in this country believe there should be some form of gun control instated (anything from more thorough background checks to full out bans) but they still sit on their asses and pocket millions from the NRA, actively getting rich from not doing their jobs. And that's why the American people need to come to their senses and vote these garbage politicians out corruption will always be a problem but it's so goddamn transparent these days. I was referring more specifically to the protest I've seen: large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence. There is nothing wrong with representative democracy. It is there as our proxy to be free to rule over ourselves, instead of being ruled by a master (or an unelected official). I cannot be sure what the majority of Americans think of Kavanaugh, I can only know through the actions of people they have elected to represent them. I wouldn't say the process to confirm Kavanaugh is rushed, in fact it has been delayed to accommodate investigation into Dr Ford's claims. (LGBT , etc ) With a conservative majority in the Supreme Court there could be many issues where the final vote comes out as 5-4. Think of any issues that are more progressive. Example: In 2015 same sex marriage was made law with a 5-4 WIN. Now, a similar issue could LOSE with a 5-4 margin. Of course these justices may shift their views case by case but now there has been an ideological shift to the right. Soon we will see the consequences of this result.
