It's on target for over $40mil opening plus it will have longevity which is something Venom wont have a ton of. It's already on track to beat what Gone Girl and Gravity did and those were huge so this is good news. But it being low budget doesn't have too much to do with it. I remember how shocked I was at It making 700+ millions with a budget of less than 40 millions and a constant critics prejudice against horror movies. It can still go really big! Although, remember that the production budget doesn’t include marketing costs and that the studio only keeps about 50% of the domestic box office gross, with the rest going to the theaters. So if it makes $40M, WB only keeps $20M. But it doesn’t have to break even opening weekend. With good reviews and word of mouth, this movie could have great legs.
