Spoiler Free: A Star Is Born Review + Final Thoughts

Hey,

I've just come home from watching A Star is Born in the Cinema and I wanted to give my thoughts about the Movie and the whole experience that I had.

About two years ago (or less) we've heard that Bradley Cooper casted Lady Gaga in the fourth Remake of 'A Star Is Born', previously played by actresses who are considered legends. We (the little Monsters) faced lots of sceptic from the general Public and critics, who either disliked the remakes and questioned Gagas acting ability or who praised the remakes and thought that Gaga couldn't pull it off. Either way - Gaga was questioned about her talent, her decision making and more. After Gaga performed at the Superbowl in 2017, she went straight to shooting this Movie. During the filming, as the Production Cast came out, Monsters saw their reputation and were worried. Not only about the movie, but that after the Superbowl she's laying low and not promoting her Album 'Joanne'.

Filming finished, Gaga went on Tour and we were in the blue how the movie is. Early screenings that were held, gave us early spoilers about the Soundtrack, the acting and such - but the critics were mostly mixed.

It was June and the first Trailer came out. Anticipation started rising and suddenly the Soundtrack was up for preorder and we had amazing premieres with critics praising the Movie a lot. It didn't stop there, it went on and on and on and on... Eventually, all this hype caught the Public and this is or was arguably the most hyped movie of the year.

In early September I bought Tickets for my favorite gal pal and myself. She is not that much of a Lady Gaga Fan but after she saw the Trailer she was interested.

Just a couple hours ago, we met at the cinema and the ride began.

It was "Ladies Night", which meant, before the movie we each got a small bottle of sparkling wine and felt our best life. The Audience was packed with a ton of soccer moms, of which some brought their boyfriends with.

The Movie started and I must say, I had a hard time getting into it at first. While I was overly impressed by the lighting, the colors and all that - I was still not really in there. After the first 30 - 40 Minutes I was caught in Allys and Jacks World. It was like I was a part of them. As the movie progressed and the Story got told more in depth, the pacing got much better. Now, before I continue I should add that I am not thaaat much of a fan in general when it comes to movies. I often stop them after 20 - 30 minutes because they are either just poorly and predictably written or just boring. Well, with A Star is Born - I wouldn't have stopped it - not just because I am a Monster, but because I and the Audience were genuinely interested in the Story that was told. You could really see the Audience resonating with the the Movie and being just as captivated as I was.

The Soundtrack was amazingly incorporated into the movie. I haven't heard any leaks except for the officially released Shallow, but if you haven't - It'll definitely make you want to purchase the Soundtrack. I heard many Audience Members asking if the Soundtrack is out and even the non-gaga Friend I went with, asked me when the Soundtrack came out cause the Music was perfectly embedded into the Movie. These were even her favorite Scenes cause the concert and musical moments were captured raw and authentic.

Overall, I must say - It's been a crazy ride for us Monsters to this point. From Backlash, to doubt - to this amazing Movie. I'm really glad and happy for Gaga and the whole Crew (and for us :sis: ) with how that Movie turned out. If you liked Shallow, be prepared to like the other Songs even more - as Shallow is (in my opinion) one of the less best Songs from all the Songs played in the Movie. One Song in the Movie, will classify her as one of THE Vocalists of our Generation and will probably be career defining for her, since it'll probably (or at least I hope it will) resonate with the Public.

If you get a chance to see it, please watch it - cause while we also saw A Star being Born, we also saw one solidifying her place in the sky once again.

I saw it myself an hour ago, and tbh i really loved it. Im soooo impressed of her acting skills and soooo proud...

The only problem I had with the movie was the pop-part. Imo there was just sth off about the storyline of her becoming a POPstar.... it was weird, but I guess that's what they intended?

Such a great movie, you should all watch it: gaga fan or not.

Edit: I'm specifically talking about her rise as a star. It was like "ok she"s famous now bam pop song" there was no smooth transition imo?

You should probably put this in spoiler considering the OP says spoiler free

Spoiler

I agree with you though. It was a weird, abrupt transition to her being a big pop star. It could have been much smoother or had a better lead up to it.

Oooh sorry I thought that that was quite logical since that's just the storyline?

It still gives away some of the plot though and I'm sure a lot of people who haven't seen it yet don't want that to be spoiled. They could go in with certain expectations that they wouldn't have otherwise known or had.

Just got back from this wild ride.

Highlights are the ballads, Willam, the bath tub scene (I thought a bitch was gonna throw fists) and the scene where ally hurts her hand.

The "pacing" was mentioned in some reviews and now I get it. The scene in the... er... where Bradley takes up swimming .... is a bit drawn out and could have done with something to break it up.
