I honestly don't know what to think since people really aren't clamoring for this but *are* for ASIB. So I think Venom may have some weak legs instead of a huge opener as people "see it when they see it". With ASIB, I have heard almost every woman at work (who I hate, but beside the point) talk about when they're going to see it, who they're bringing, the latest on reviews, etc. and none of these people are stans in the slightest. They're the most average, boring, most banal human personalities I've ever come into contact with. It's as close as speaking to a Buzzfeed article as is humanly possible. So I think this'll be the Titanic effect to a much lesser degree (I'm not crazy and expecting records like that) where girlfriends bring their bfs to see this because there's usually not a movie like that out and they get stuck with whatever the next superhero movie is.

That they will release in the same week is just a fact. They ARE different movie, but it can't stop general people from comparing these two films about their box office or critical response.

These reviews sound legit though.  Really well spoken compared to the soccer moms and their poor grammar.  Lol! 

So what is it,  is it good or bad?  I have watched Venom reviews online from MCU fans and they said typically when a superhero film gets released late and doesn't do pre screenings means that it's not so good. Like they want the money to sell but not fo screenings cause it won't live up to the expectations

But then I want to believe that just to help ASIB bit it may not necessarily be true.

This isn't going to affect the fact that Venom's gonna open bigger than ASIB though. 99.99999% sure that ASIB is the better movie, but Venom will do more.

Will it though? I've yet to see anyone actually excited for Venom. Even the comic nerds are salty that Sony's making it and there's no Spiderman involved. Is anyone going to see it? I'm fully expecting it to bomb hard, and I LOVE comic movies.

Even if it's bad, I don't think that's necessarily going to stop a lot of people from seeing it. It's still a comic book movie, and those things are doing exceptionally well. I believe ASIB might have longer legs than Venom, but Venom is taking opening weekend hands down.

Opening weekend I agree, it might have a good shot. I just feel like there's a lot of negativity around Venom, and I've yet to see much excitement for it at all. 

Not that I really care which of the films does better, I just genuinely can't see Venom doing well and think it'll get buried pretty soon after release.

It's getting some pretty bad reviews which means I'll probably like it. LMFAO. Hearing a few compliant's Venom is a film stuck in the 1990's early 2000's as well. That's not entirely a bad thing and makes me wanna see it even more. It might actually be the point of the film since it was heavy influenced by 90's Venom comics. Still looking forward to seeing this movie and A Star Is Born this weekend

I mean, I don't think that's Venom's gonna do great. If you compare the two's predicting opening weekend numbers, they're only about $20 million apart. ASIB is predicted to do $44 million and I think Venom is predicted to do $68 million, but I may be wrong about that one.

Even though $20mm is a lot, considering that Venom is a superhero movie—regardless if it's coming from Marvel or not—and the fact that ASIB is the fourth remake, has Gaga starring for her first major motion picture, and Bradley directing for the first time, a $20mm difference is pretty good.

Oh for sure, plus they're very different movies. Venom is a blockbuster action flick, one of Sony's flagship films for the year. ASIB is a date-night musical. Pretty impressive, really.
