Yildiz 1
To everyone still wondering about whether or not the fur is real; please read all the posts before making assumptions, because as many people have already pointed out here, the fur is in fact fake. Gaga said: "please don't forget to credit the designer HERMES.", which is essentially translated into: "please don't forget to DO YOUR RESEARCH." The link below shows the exact garment she was wearing. The text to the right says that drapey leather, fringed cashmere, high-pile fur, and slouchy wool were used. High-pile fur is a certain type of fake fur. http://www.fashionologie.com/Hermes-Runway-2012-Fall-22044060?page=0,0,0#7 Gaga was wearing fake fur. Though I don't think many people will pay attention to this as the thread seems to be severely derailed from the original topic.
MelbHawker 6,583
I roll my eyes at this PETA bull****. They are so desperate for attention.. all they do is attack the high profile celebrities to gain exposure. How do they know the coat is real fur? And what if the animal had died of natural causes and then the fur the was used? Narrow minded assholes.
AbeTheBabe 0
the fact people are now claiming they arent fans anymore is comical... Exactly. You know the majority only care about this out of boredom, they'll forget this ever bothered them by tomorrow. People on this site can be so dramatic. Lorde 0
I think it's faux, Gaga wouldn't wear real fur... If it is real, that's disappointing :\

Oh my god, what would appease you? If she made a written or verbal statement declaring the fur fake and her stance against animal cruelty? Because I can tell you thats not going to happen. If people on this site frustrate you with what you believe to be ignorance than so be it, but you've been in this thread all day man :(
easyride 1
Um people are killed every day. Many in more gruesome ways then these animals... There is slavery, war crimes, human trafficking etc, even in the US There are more important human issues, especially regarding our species and even Earth in general than worrying about fur... If you eat meat, shut the hell up about how unjust fur is. One thing ive noticed on this forum is how member insult other members with words like "shut the hell up", "shut it", "fukc you", "fukc off", etc and they go without a warning. Very weird. Ive been vegan for 12 years, so you can eat your own words.
garnite 8
what would appease you?uh, is there supposed to be something difficult about saying "the fur is real, sorry" "of course it's not real silly monsters!" ?

It's also possible that the description on that website is wrong when they mention "high pile fur." It's not a Hermes website after all. Only Hermes and probably Gaga know for sure. I prefer to give Gaga the benefit of the doubt rather than crucify her without proof, unlike many apparently, and I think her tweet makes a whole lot more sense if the fur is fake. For the record, I don't support the fur industry, but I do wear leather and eat meat, so I'm not going to be throwing stones at Gaga if she decides suddenly to star wearing real fur. The difference between somebody wearing fur and myself wearing leather and eating meat is only a matter of degree after all. whats easier to believe? That Gaga suddenly had a change of heart about fur after being definitely anti-fur previously? Or that her coats are probably not real fur? easyride 1
and there are bigger issues then some stupid fox getting its neck snapped to be turned into a beautiful jacket, you cant deny this Wow ! Talk about being senseless.

A 2 second Google search of "what is high-pile fur?" came up with a load of stuff saying it is a Chinese fake fur made of synthetic fibers. I would say that it's almost definitely faux fur she is wearing.

Yildiz 1
uh, is there supposed to be something difficult about saying "the fur is real, sorry" "of course it's not real silly monsters!" ? Gaga's tweet was a typical 'do your research before making assumptions' response to all the journalists who jumped at her for wearing 'real fur' instead of doing their job and actually researching. It was hilarious and witty.

I would say that it's almost definitely faux fur she is wearing. searching "what is high-pile fur?" gives me 9 results, all of which are from yahoo answers (someone in this thread probably). 3 hours ago there were zero results. if you google it without quotes you get a load of websites selling chinese fake high pile fur made of synthetic fibers. this does not mean high pile fur means fake fur. I went to a number of fur industry websites, and not once did I find the word "pile" mentioned on them in terms of referring to anything about natural furs. Which also doesn't prove anything, but does strengthen the use of the word "pile" to being limited to manmade materials, IMO.
