garnite 8
Honey, I don't care. Like I said, I'm perfectly content even if Gaga loses half of you. What I can't stand is you people not seeing through what PETA is doing, or acknowledging that the fur is fake, as indicated, and shutting the hell up. let's hope gaga doesn't do something that goes against what you stand for so much that she "loses" you, yes? which will likely never happen as i'm sure she can do no wrong (with no exceptions) in your eyes, and i doubt you could come up with one thing that would cause her to """"""lose"""""" you. boysboysboys 278
Ummm the thread title needs to be changed. I'm pretty sure a lot of the jackets she's been wearing recently are real. And she gave credit to Hermes? Hermes uses real fur, OP. I've honestly never been more ashamed of Gaga. And change the title!!! I think she indicates in her message that she's feigning it, that it's sold to her as fake by Hermes and it's up to the stubborn inquisitors to ask Hermes if it really is. garnite 8
Nothing worse that a blind fan. indeed. or a sociopath! and this fandom is rife with both. i weep. :(
CroatiaGeisha 19
I actually hope that this fur is real just to annoy all of the crazy animal lovers. You don't have to wear fur, but it's another thing trying to stop somebody else from wearing fur. But this is an issue totally grounded in ethics- not the "offensiveness" you speak of that leads to censorship. You can definitely admonish somebody's actions if they are deemed unethical. Pop Art 1,773
Killing animals is necessary. And USDA rules give out specific instructions on doing it properly, without torture. I'm sure a vast majority follow that, especially after the mad cow outbreak. If you're happy, you'll stop ragging. How is killing animals necessary? I'm honestly taken aback at that remark. You are right though in saying that the USDA has guidelines, but that doesn't mean everyone follows them. The "vast majority"? Perhaps. The animals are still killed, but that's not the point of this post. It doesn't matter what anyone says, at this point, animals are suffering from people's gross negligence to not follow these government rules. It may only be a small handful of farms in the grand scheme of things (although I'm sure it's more than that), but even one case of animal cruelty is one too many. You may fee that it is stupid or idiotic to give so much thought into the life of a 'worthless' animal, but they're really not worthless. It may just be my way of seeing things, but all life has value and is important in one way or another, and so should at the very least be treated with respect. How can I be happy knowing there are animals (and people for that matter) being killed in the millions across the globe even as I type this?

Meanwhile, I've made my point that you should being a drag about this issue. not trying to get personal, just genuinely weirded out by the "I'm perfectly content even if Gaga loses half of you" and the other "you people" comment. :)
kupo 201
Whoever quit being a fan over this probably wasn't very much of a fan to begin with. Just saying. That's just not true. I'm not going to stop being a fan for something like this, but it is an issue with genuine ethical implications for a lot of people, so somebody finding this divergence in opinion/action too much isn't really unbelievable and I don't think reflects a lack "fandom" to begin with. Especially for a star like Gaga who has so many fans precisely because of the moral and philosophical stances she's adopted.
giskardsb 12,565
She gave credits to Hermes, a company that uses REAL fur on their designs. So, the fur is real. Hermes has used real fur in the past. That has no bearing on whether they used real fur in this particular jacket. Until Hermes or Gaga says for sure, nobody can say 100% either way, although I think the available evidence tends towards faux.
Reno 79
Its obviously fake tho... It doesnt even look real. It looks real to me Although i don't know if it's real or not. But even if it isn't considering Gaga is a fashion icon it promotes wearing fur, if it's fashionable there's gonna be a demand for it, and where's demand there's supply, and there will be many people who would want real fur instead of fake, so even if Gaga aren't wearing real fur she kinda still brings bad news for the animals by supporting this kind of fashion in my opinion. mrlemon 578
Good, the BTW era sucked. First of all, how DARE you. Secondly, why are people being so quick to judge something that might not even be true?!?! Gaga, Ke$ha, and Ava
uo111 5,266
As you can see, groups like this do not want to protect. They want to destroy. I respect if you don't want to wear animal fur. I respect if you promote the conserving of wildlife by not wearing fur. However, if you for one millisecond try to tell me that I am not allowed to wear fur, that it is wrong for me to wear fur, for that I am a bad person for wearing fur, then you have something coming. You've become a book burning, burning awake the pages of "fashion" one paragraph at a time. If we allow every little minority to delete a paragraph from the "book of fashion" or "the book of expression"...the entire book will be burned of existence! So while I respect that you don't agree with wearing fur, if you feel the need to stop me or gaga from wearing fur, your a book burner and I don't have one iota of respect for you. This is entirely exaggerated. Apply this logic to many other things, and you come to see how ill fitting it is in the world. The "book of pedophilia" has been burned by most societies for quite some time and is still alive and well. By your logic, we shouldn't be trying to snuff out their "expression". And also by your logic, pedophilia should be essentially nonexistent. Both of which are obviously not true. You could use the arguement that it's hurting people and not acceptable, but fur kills animals so... And killing animals needlessly is not something that a sane person can defend. Animals are literally skinned alive, and then left to die (the skinning doesn't kill them at first). On the other hand, I'm not against cruelty free fur. My neighbor works for the government to keep the wolf population in check in Alaska, and he skins the wolves that he kills. I see no problem there. Being against all fur is stupid. Not being against skinning animals alive is fukced up, plain and simple.
