this is a snippet of her singing Shallow at the JWT towards the end of the movie... it sounds VERY different from the version we got. This is probably what the studio version was like ugh it's so good

that sounds like a studio version

So confused about this soundtrack...but we can just wait and judge until it leaks :firega: within...I’m pretty sure like 5 days.

It doesn't serve the movie ANYTHING to be mixed and mastered with effects from the film. The movie is its own fully realized experience. The soundtrack should be it's own separate experience - what it is shaping up to be now is a strange hybrid that intends to replicate the film experience but ends up being diluted and also then fails to serve as a stand alone album. These "Live" mixes should be a Disc 2 type of situation to a fully realized normal studio album.

The only real annoyances in Shallow is the cheering and a slight bit of clunkyness in the build up to the second chorus, its pretty minor and doesnt ruin the song. They most likely didnt want the soundtrack to be a 'separate experience', they're proud of the fact everything was done live and wanted to keep that the focus and the memory of the film. If they had just ripped the songs straight from the movie there would of been an even greater backlash and probably would've been accused of being lazy etc. Im sure the average movie goes who listens to the ST wont mind in the slightest or even notice the things that are being discussed.

It seems to be the opposite from what I can tell. We talked about the release at work today and the one thing everyone I work with said was that the crowd noise was awful and ruined it. They were baffled why they would have that included on an official soundtrack release. I agree though, that's the only thing I have wrong with it. Unfortunately it seems a few now aren't interested in the release of the soundtrack at all because of the crowd noise...

Their mistake was teasing the studio version in the trailer... that set us all up for failure

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

But dont forget they never intended to release a lead single from the film, the only reason they have released Shallow is because there is a demand from the fans. If they wanted to do a big lead single like IWALY or Wind Beneath my Wings then they probably could of done so but there was obviously a reason as to why the didnt go down that route.

apparently, is that alright was also recorded live.

How though? The song only comes during the credits, they never perfomed it on a stage

Though I refuse to jump on the hate fest for Shallow and the fact that it’s not the full “studio version,” the only thing I feel like I’m missing is the big chorus belt from the trailer, coz it’s huge and booming. I understand it doesn’t mesh as well with the rest of the song which is meant to show Ally emerging for the first time, but as fan of her voice, I always wanna see her best moments shine.

I also agree that the potential for the song is huge, and it makes me a little bit concerned if they’re going out of their way to remove studio versions from the album. I understand wanting to replicate the film experience but these are songs that are going to be woven into Gaga discography forever, and I’d like to see them at their most complete.

I’m being totally deluded but I think in the future they might release a collectors edition with the uninterrupted studio cuts.
