Re: Crowd Noises

We already have a bunch of threads on whether or not the song is “good”. This thread isn’t about that. I can’t change someone’s opinion.

I felt that “crowd noises” needed to be discussed though. Some people here may find them distracting or confused as to why they’re included but a few points-

a) In the context of the film, the performances are live. The VAST majority of the people disappointed in it have not seen the film and are confused and distracted. “Live” albums are a thing, and they’re still played on radio and are highly regarded. Albums like Nirvana- “Unplugged in New York” have the crowd cheering throughout, it made no difference, it was critically acclaimed and played on the radio all the time.

B) It’s the safest song without diving too deep into the plot. It showcases their vocals and it’s the perfect teaser to the film.

I had already made a thread about this point a couple weeks ago- overhyping something and being disappointed with zero context. I also told this forum to wait until watching the movie to dive too deep into the soundtrack because it was bound to disappoint when people were expecting “Lady Gaga” music.

Context matters.

i think they're fine lol

they work great in the climax though, very immersive and add to the drama and hype

The intellectual jumped out. But tbf we’ll get over it pretty quickly. This entire fanbase hated most of btw when it first came out, and now we love and respect it all.... even the queen and electric chapel (oof everyone haaaated that one)

Almost everything I’ve seen and heard about the OST is that it was recorded live.

I think that crowd noises are only added in this exact song Just because it's Ally's momentum in the movie when she's rising as the star that people are gonna Fall in love with.

Okay so let me rephrase that. The album sounds like a studio record, all mixed and edited, and the crowd noises sound like samples.

I'm okay with live albums, whether they have crowd noises or not. Led Zeppelin made their albums live and they sound MAJOR.

I also think the crowd noises will merge with the whole album concept, since it has a lot of interludes with dialogues (apparently).

i had mixed feelings on it (mostly that i thought it was about 8 songs too many) but it’s grown on me over the years

I'm not bothered by them. I was just under the impression that the soundtrack has the studio versions and they were going to be performed live in the movie.

Do you hear that? It's poison.

There was a tone of disappointment the day it came out cuz it was so overhyped ppl expected way more

I remember I got up at 6am to hear it before school or work (I think I was still in highschool) and I was so disappointed by it too and by the comments a third of monsters at least were

A week later everyone got used to it but I fully remember many disliking it
