Star 4,409
1. Because it will help to reduce the possible "backlash" on ASIB movie since it has been getting lots of praises. La La La experienced the same thing as ASIB, starting off with huge overly praising and when it went on to win TIFF, people started to hate the film thus, causing a huge backlash for a while. 2. The winning was based on how many casual moviegoers, not critics, thus Green Book has more screening than ASIB (only 5 screenings). 3. Usually the one winning the TIFF never win in BP, just nominated so this increase the chance for ASIB and other film that's not mentioned in TIFF Top 3. 4. Spotlight, Moonlight, and The Shape of Water are the past 3 BP winners, all played TIFF, and none of them placed in the top 3 either 5. Enjoy the ride. Watch it on 5th October or whichever date it is coming out to near your theaters.

Bradley 59,689
I agree with most things you said but I don't think there will be backlash due to 'overwhelmingly positive responses' given to a film. La La Land is still remembered as an immensely popular movie which was critically acclaimed, and had gotten tons of awards and nominations. It will be remembered in Oscar and movie history for years to come. People say the same thing about how Born This Way was 'too popular' and suffered from overexposure when all the extensive promotion Gaga invested in the era only helped solidify its legacy and moment in pop culture. hpmcmill 2,011
A win would be nice I think, but I don't think it's a huge deal. Just so happy that the film and Gaga's first major acting performance has been critically praised and will likely be a huge smash...and that we are getting so much new Gaga music soon!! DrewPa 3,762
One thing is sure: Gaga's career as an actress couldn't star better. The movie is good, her performance has been praised, her future in movie business seems bright. All this is great. Now the next step is a good commercial performance. If the awards come, it would be great. Otherwise, it would be a great movie that didn't win an Oscar. No big deal, this movie will be remembered anyway. Gaga has already won.
