Don't Be Mad At Me But...

I think Vegas is the wrong move for Gaga. I think she's made incredible decisions post-Troy, but I can't wrap my head around this decision. It just seems like something she should do in say ten years from now, but it just seems too soon. The Joanne tour was successful, and I know that Gaga is mostly doing this for health reasons, I still feel that a residency in Vegas still gives the general public the wrong idea about you, and places you in the past of pop, making it even harder to get radio play etc. I also just think it is going to be a source of humor from Gaga haters to point at and make Gaga seem like a flop. I just don't think it's a good move at the moment.

She doesn't care what the public thinks and she doesn't care what her haters think. In the interview with Vogue she said that she's doesn't believe performing in a residency is something only ex-acts do. It's always been her dream to be a Vegas girl.

I think her aim is to change the stigma around it. It's also a rather small run of 27 shows. It's not like she's going to be chained their. Adele has been in talks to do one and Bruno Mars has done a a small stint their. I think Beyonce did one 10 years into her career as well. Gaga will be fine.

It's because you're stuck in the common mindset that "Vegas residencies are a last ditch effort to revive a career/a soft retirement"

I think tbh Gaga is doing it for a few reasons:

1. To give her body a proper break for two years, and to try her best to fix it

2. To stall while she tries to figure out her pain disorder so she doesn't end up having to cancel any more shows. Cancelling more and more shows would be the real death of her career as a performer, not this residency.

3. To make a shitload of money in a small amount of time to put towards big things in future.

4. To prove that a Vegas residency doesn't have to be the end of a performers's career, and that it can be an amazing and spectacular show.

I think she's doing more good by signing on for this residency. Imagine if she put out another world tour and had to cancel half of it again because she couldn't handle it. That would be very likely to happen. I hope she can utilise this time to work with some medical experts, and help her to figure out a way to sustain her career for the rest of her life. We don't want her burning out young. We want her to pace herself and be the next Cher; still headlining at 70+.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

This puts things in perspective for me, maybe I'm just feeling bad that I used the residency card against Britney stans. :rip:

"I’ve always hated the stigma around Las Vegas—that it’s where you go when you’re on the last leg of your career. Being a Las Vegas girl is an absolute dream for me. It’s really what I’ve always wanted to do.”
