If Marvel is pushing for Black Panther to get an Oscar nom, and if they win, I can see Lion King getting noms too. Lion King will definitely play the cultural minority card much like Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians used. So don't be too sure about that. I wouldn’t say Pixar’s films are a typical Disney production. Jungle Book was a pretty good live action remake (in fact it’s Disney’s only good live action remake), but it did not end up getting nominated for any Oscars. But then again I wouldn’t underestimate Lion King, not because of Beyonce but Childish Gambino/Donald Glover and Hans Zimmer

Well. none of the live-action Disney remakes have won any Oscars yet, and even the original song they wrote for Beauty and The Beast was not nominated, and BATB was relegated to technical award noms. Coco won best animated feature and original song, but most people view the animated feature Oscar as a joke because it always goes to Disney or Pixar despite many other movies being more deserving. She is in The Lion King next year, that will be big for her. Jesus more live action Disney films. They need to stop this. No one wants this. Does anyone remember any of the thousand live action remakes they've already done?

As in she's saying like "I know Beyoncé already has a lot of lines but it's still not enough. Because... Beyoncé XD" I was thinking the same thing. Beyoncé is very talented, but she is very over rated.

So I feel Gaga's acclaim will be more deserved as she really is giving it her all I feel like that does a massive disservice to voice actors, though. They have to breathe life into a character entirely through the use of their voice. How effective or ineffective the acting is all comes down to how well they can execute this. I wouldn't say physical acting is any more or less easier, it's just a different way of acting. Of course, some actors may find one easier than the other, but I think both disciplines are incredibly difficult. Plus, nowadays we see the line get blurred more and more with MoCap. Look at Lupita Nyongo in Star Wars. Technically she's voice-acting, but they're also tracking her face and body movements to animate them with CG later so there is an element of physical acting there in some roles, too. Really that entire cast is absolutely phenomenally talented so there's no reason to not be excited. Hell, Beyonce is good reason not because she's Beyonce but because she has that great comforting warmth to her voice that would suit Nala incredibly well and with the self-titled and Lemonade, she's gotten better at expressing a range of emotions in her music via her voice (Don't Hurt Yourself, Pretty Hurts, Blue, etc.)

StrawberryBlond 14,909
To be quite honest, Beyonce already had her huge lead role with Dreamgirls. And even that wasn't enough to get her so much as an Oscar nomination. She's had her big chance, it didn't quite work out like she hoped, but she's got a whole lot else going on - starting trends with suprise visual albums, having most successful album of the year with Lemonade, having mega-bucks grossing solo and joint tours, headlining Coachella, being the second-most decorated female in Grammy history, being considered the queen of the Superbowl...all that and more. She doesn't need to be a huge force in movies into the bargain. I feel like Beyonce had done it, it would have been yet another vanity project for her rather than doing it for the love of acting. It would have been just like Dreamgirls, just without the other girls. She's got this and Cadillac Records, she doesn't need another role where she plays a singer with the world's best star quality. 3 times isn't a charm, it's just showing off. Bradley Cooper did voice acting for Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy. Benedict Cumberbatch voice acted for that dragon in the Hobbit movie. If they watch the behind the scenes, they literally have to use facial expressions so the emotions will bring through in their voices. People underestimate voice acting way too much. Bear in mind that Beyonce is not Gaga in that she has acted before and Dreamgirls especially got her an award nom. I’m sure her fee was still wild, but she was by no means like if Gaga had asked for that. Plus, I think she’s moved on from acting by this point. It was never reall a huge desire of hers; it just seemed like a supplementary thing she did Thank God she moved on. Acting is definitely not for her. And no, I don’t mean it on a shady way. It’s just that acting (I’m a Drama student myself) is not just learning lines and saying them while looking cute on a camera.
skaxboy 5,682
Will the love action Lion King be a musical? The Jungle Book wasn’t. Mulan isn’t going to be. Beyonce has had had a good amount of acting roles already. She starred in that movie Obsessed. Does anyone know what genre of music her version of ASIB would have been? And would Bradley’s role have been played by Clint Eastwood?
