Beyonce is kinda already there though. She is in The Lion King next year, that will be big for her.

Just like her role is Epic was big for her... Voice acting roles are not a good place for acting recognition. If you're trying to establish yourself in the acting world you want and NEED audiences to see your face

She’s had bigger roles than epic. She was in that movie for no more than 10 min. I don’t think anyone was expecting that role/movie to get any major recognition. Also, who says she wants establish herself as an actor? I’d say gaga is more invested in the acting business than Bey. I think the lion king is just a fun project she wanted to be in. If she wanted serious roles, I’m sure she would’ve jumped on ASIB back in 2012.

I agree, I was just responding to what was being said about her role in The Lion King and how it relates to "Missing out" on ASiB. My point was that they aren't comparable types of roles or projects and that Beyonce doesn't seem to be looking to establish herself as an actress so there for she didn't really miss out on anything at all.

Beyonce's got a movie coming up.  The Lion King.  I really have no news about this except for a tweet I saw.

Like,  will it be live action,  will they be human,  or pretending to be lions like the Broadway show.  I'm confused.

It’s going to be CGI. As in, there will be cgi lions and Beyoncé will voice one. I keep seeing people say that Beyoncé ended up winning by taking this role over ASIB. But like... she won by doing a voice over role? I know TLK will do well just like the jungle book, and all the other big Disney remakes, but no one is ultimately going to care about this movie.

I agree with you.  I thought they were making a movie version of the Broadway musical for some reason in my head.  Which could be a big contender for Oscars since the Broadway show won many Tony awards.

Anyway,  voice acting is not much compared to a leading role in a movie (ASIB). I don't see Beyonce staking her time and effort to be with a first time director like Cooper though. She makes too calculated decisions in her career.

Gaga made a leap of faith and so did Bradley with casting Gaga as the lead. I just think this movie was a match made in heaven for the roles.

She’s already done that with Dreamgirls. I was pointing out that Beyonce is at another level in her career since her self titled album and Lemonade.

The project is better off with Gaga anyway. She’s more openly vulnerable and soulful as an actor. I can believe her playing a character with no confidence despite having substantial talent.

Maybe so, but Lion King probably won’t be as appreciated as a film like A Star Is Born. I can’t see it getting an 8-minute standing sing ovation at a film festival or an Oscar, sorry 😂

If Frozen, an animated movie can snatch 2 Oscars, even if it's not even in the Best Actress or Best Actor category, I don't see why a Live Action remake of The Lion King can't. If Marvel is pushing for Black Panther to get an Oscar nom, and if they win, I can see Lion King getting noms too.

Lion King will definitely play the cultural minority card much like Black Panther and Crazy Rich Asians used. So don't be too sure about that.
