Is 'Shallow' radio-friendly?

Doesn’t sound like it. Better chance of one of the ballads being played on radio than The Shallow.

Tough to say

First of all Adele can fart and make it a hit if it's her lead single.

Ballads don't do well today especially with live instruments.

The vocal sounds cleaner than some of the Joanner vocals so that's promising.

If the ASIB train continues, thrn everyone may want to be a part of it and that includes radio playing it's song.

Honestly I don't know if it would do well on Top 40. Her voice is just reaching too large for it in a not Adele-feminine way. That's Gaga's "problem" is that her voice is so enormous that she needs to scale it back for it to be radio-palatable. It translates so well live, but radio it's a sticky wicket, of sorts. I think it may do well elsewhere, but not Top 40 and this is me saying that as I LOVE this song so much and find it to be super super memorable.

I agree - it's very similar to how she sings in Perfect Illusion. Way too big of a voice for top 40 audience.

It's rock, and it's dramatic, so no, it's not radio friendly for today's standards, no matter how good the song is. It can be a second single, but I'm placing my bets on ARUTW, Heal Me or WDYDT for the lead promotional single.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

WDYTD = Why Did You Do That

WB should until the movie gets released and see which one of the songs may be a hit. ASIB will be big, so it should be enough to make the song they'll choose a moderate hit (at least) without promo.

But from what we've heard yet, Shallow could do really well and become a hit, even though it's not radio-friendly at all. Let's wait and see the verses of the song.
