Everyone in pop music is declining...

But yes I get where you're going. Just yesterday I listen to the whole Animal + Cannibal album of Kesha's. And the vocals were VERY pitched edited, the majority of the lyrics were... well bad to say the least :lmao:, but overall, it was a REALLY good pop album that you can dance to! Artists these days are trying their hardest to be inspirational or to show they can make stripped music (basically acoustic). But I don't think all pop songs should/be message songs, if you have a catchy song idea that you like and is VERY catchy, whether it has meaningful lyrics or not, make it! You don't have to spread a good message in all your songs, if you have a silly idea, write down ;)

Also, the lack of heavy synthesizers and "emotional-happy" chords are not being used a whole lot right now. What I mean about that is, well in Kesha's song Crazy Beautiful Life, it has and oddly emotional feeling to all the pop sounding synths/beats.

River

I think it's the record companies

They are so scared from the streaming that they prefer if the artists will follow trends..

For example P!nk, she's not a tropical house kind of person and yet she released as a first single What About Us.. and you clearly saw that this type of song is just not for her and not her..

So what is happening is that there is a lack of soul in the songs, lack of courage and risks and we as listeners feels it.. even the GP feels it.. this is why things are declining so fast, one second you are #1 and suddenly you are barely bubbling under 100th

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Joanne and Sweetener are good albums, if you disagree maybe you just don’t know good music. :)

Sorry lol I was more openly replying to the people that commented that Sweetener is “awful,” not directly to you

Sadly the advancement of auto-tune has really drowned out true talent.

It’s now a beauty contest with some airy modulated vocals that are mostly spoken.

Ok if you only categorize pop music into something Kesha-ish, then go stanning ha:oops:. Gaga has more to do with it.

I think one of the biggest problems is that the youth today go for what's popular. If the artist is instagrammable or has a look they think is cool they will make that person a star... or if you're connected to the Kardashians. Like Travis Scott for example. Is he talented? Is his music any good? If it wasn't for Kylie Jenner there is no way in hell he would be famous.

The youth of today are ruining music because they follow the herd and stream what's popular.

You just delivered a knockout punch for the ages with this post.
