lol guys receiving this award means youre done and old. Gaga should refuse if it was given to her in the upcoming 10 years at least.

The fact that Rihanna, P!nk and now JLO have a Vanguard Award and not Eminem, Missy and Gaga is really stupid.

You know this is just my opinion, right?

Madonna got this award in the 80’s. Janet Jackson got it in the 90’s. Beyoncé dropped her biggest album yet (Lemonade) in 2016. And got the Vanguard Award in 2014. Rihanna is still oneof the biggest pop star and she got it already. What are you smoking?

It's a bit sad that Gaga is credited only for her early work until 2011. It's like after BTW she didn't nothing :rip:

It's true though. We all know her last big hit was BTW and ever since MTN her videos have been lackluster. Though Applause was ok. G.U.Y. was something but it was ruined by the direction and camera work. Joanne videos, ya I don't have anything to say about those :sis:

John Wayne is not that bad. If they glorify Just Dance and Love Game music videos, then I don't see why John Wayne can't be appreciated

5 Artists Who Could Win Future VMA Video Vanguard Awards

We look at the rappers, directors and pop star we’d like to see take home the special music-video moonman in the coming years

More recently, Lady Gaga has been responsible for making music videos into events again. She made her debut just as the age of TRL was being replaced with YouTube consumption, but that didn’t stop Gaga from making lengthy, plot-heavy, fashion-forward visual components to match the arty pop she was churning out from album to album. Following the couture futurism of “LoveGame” and “Poker Face” came the noir glamor of “Paparazzi” — in which a conniving but handsome Alexander Skarsgard pushes an It Girl Gaga off a balcony, only to be poisoned by her later — and the Thelma & Louise–inspired vengeful road trip epic of “Telephone,” which co-stars Beyonce in one of her most unique and out-of-character roles yet.

Our good sis Gaga and Missy Elliott :legend:

I think that Björk, Katy Perry, Panic! at the Disco, and (maybe) Coldplay deserve to be recognized for their videos at some point in the future, whether or not it's by MTV :vegas:

Bjork before anyone, in my opinion.... sure, Gaga's videos are much more popular, but Bjork has been doing amazing videos for almost 30 years and she is beyond time
