About New Music and Vegas

I was just wondering, is it the norm to put out a full album before a Vegas residency for other artists? I don't really remember what Britney or what Bruno did before their residencies for hype. This might provide a clue if we'll get new music before Enigma. These instagram photos are ****ing me up

I'm sure that some do and some don't. It still won't tell us what Gagz is gonna do  My brain hurts from all of this hyping and investigating

I think the difference is that Gaga hasn't released a pure pop (I mean Joanne is pop, but you know what I mean.. a dance record) album in like 5 years, and that means that in a 10 year long career she would be covering pretty much just her first half, so a new record would provide fresh, new material to perform. Bruno and Britney didnt have that gap, so they didnt have to release anything. Although I think Britney released Glory in the middle of the residency.

Britney's residency began on December 27, 2013, and her 5x aluminum album "Britney Jean" was released on November 29, 2013.

I get that. I meant it in terms of what this forum defines pop as a genre. I mean I consider a bunch of rock and indie artists as pop, so... not my intention sorry

If you check out the history of Vegas. Nope. Most artists dont actually release an album specifically for a Vegas residency. Some do like Britney etc.. but most dont. Sometimes they do release an album in the middle of their residencies etc but that's just because they want to release new music / start a new era. Most Vegas shows are sort of known to be a Greatest Hits type of show. You absolutely do not need new music to do a residency.

Britney released Britney Jean about a month before the show started but the show only included like 2 songs from the album. Which was kinda annoying tbh.

Britney actually did release an album a month before the residency.
