MEM 3,114 Posted August 8, 2018 Share Posted August 8, 2018 OP: I’m from Melbourne and I’ve been tracking this since June, prepare for my research below lol - I’ve legit contacted most places and no ones getting back to me it’s so frustrating! I want to stay hopeful and go with Oct 4th like it says on IMDb, because it just makes sense - it’s a Thursday which is when we release most movies and because it’s a Roadshow film it’s a big deal and we SHOULD have it around the same time as the US. However sites like Event and Village have it in ‘Coming Soon’ as October 18th which is just ridiculous to me as we would never get something 14 days late?! I even checked the other Roadshow titles - The Spy Who Dumped Me premiered in the US on August 3 and it comes out here tomorrow, August 9. That is only a 6 day delay and what is tomorrow? Thursday. Going by that theory, we should get ASIB on August 11. So idk where this 18th comes from? It just seems like a stretch. One of the more elite cinemas however, Palace Cinemas, still have it as October 4th, so I went into my local Palace Cinema and guess what, I saw the poster for the first time here! After I calmed down, I noticed something - it only said “Coming Soon” proof here: Even posters I’ve seen from overseas have a specific date on them! So this was just annoying. Then recently I heard US Cinemas started playing the trailer in front of Mamma Mia 2 so when I went to see it I was so excited and you know what trailer I got? Bohemian Rhapsody and that comes out November 1st?!?? I reached out to a friend working at Village Cinemas and she said they were playing ASIB trailer in the lobby (I have yet to witness this) but there’s again, no specific date at the end of it. Lastly, as I’ve been tracking the websites, I noticed that the ones with ASIB for Oct 18th also had VENOM for Oct 18th and I remembered that they were competing for opening weekend. So I thought hmm, maybe Roadshow Australia have just decided to postpone their upcoming titles two weeks later and almost ready to accept that fact until... I WALKED INTO VILLAGE YESTERDAY AND THERE’S A MASSIVE VENOM CARDBOARD CUTOUT SAYING “COMING OCTOBER 4TH” Long story short, I think they’re still working it out and I don’t know how or why it’s taking so long, or why we have like zero promo for it.
