Gaga, ASIB promotion and LG6

If we break down what's left of the year, she has around October-November to release anything from a new album since singles aren't normally released around Christmastime. I personally don't see it happening because she's gonna have to do promo for a new single and it might seem rushed considering she has Vegas coming up. I don't know maybe she will release something until then but we can only wait and see :spin:

If she does release new music this year, it will take the attention away from the movie and the soundtrack.

Even if she has completed all the promotion that is scheduled for A Star Is Born, it does not mean it's wise to release the new album this year. They probably want all the focus and attention to be placed on the soundtrack and movie so that they will be constantly talked about and brought up by every journalist and critic until the Academy Awards. The reason why this is important is because they want to keep the buzz alive until the awards season ends.

Just imagine - what happens if you release a highly anticipated single from your new album?

It will undoubtedly garner attention, and thus people will talk about the lead single and the anticipation of the new album, and thus talk less about the movie and soundtrack. It would be like creating your own competition to steal the throne of the other.

A very relevant example is how Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story and Feud have taken the spotlight from American Horror Story. Or how Taylor Swift's Blank Space dethroned Shake it Off. There will be winners, but there will also be losers.

So why not wait until the awards season has ended before she commences a new era?

First of all, it's really funny how most of you think you're managers or record label executives and know how the music and film industry promotion work :ladyhaha:

Secondly, it's not that she won't release LG6 immediately after ASIB because she won't have the time to promote it. It's because, if the soundtrack takes off, and, let's say, she gets great critics for the songs and acting, it's not a wise move to distract the GP with a new solo album of a completely different musical style, until at least the award season. It could even look like she used ASIB hype to promote her solo music. And we all know how seriously Gaga takes acting, look at all her interviews from AHS era where she said that she only wanted to do one thing at a time and fully commit herself in each project.

I think that they don't have a specific release plan for LG6 yet and they want to see first how the ASIB soundtrack/movie goes. If it flops, I'm sure they will speed up a single's release in time for Vegas. If not, believe me, Vegas doesn't need new music to sell out. It's Lady f*ckin' Gaga, her hits are enough to sell out the entire run.

Edit: I just realised that the user above me said pretty much the same things, only much better written  :poot:

First of all no one is playing manager here although I’m studying management and economics at the university right now.. It is how promotion works and everyone knows it.

I can't wait to hear LG6 and I am deeply excited for the new era... But I have to agree with you. :toofunny:

If she releases a new pop album before the awards season, one of the projects (the movie or the album) will eventually be overshadowed. This is a fact.

And I think it would be best for her to start a new era at a time when she can give full attention to it. So I don't mind waiting until 2019.

Here are some of the Oscars voting members, do you think they would give a rats ass about LG6 being released in November etc?  They probably wouldn’t even know she has an album out.

Actors Branch – Laura Dern, Whoopi Goldberg, Alfred Molina.

Casting Directors Branch – Lora Kennedy, David Rubin, Bernard Telsey.

Cinematographers Branch – John Bailey, Darkyn Okada, Mandy Walker.

Costume Designers Branch – Sharen Davis, Deborah Nadoolman Landis, Isis Mussenden.

Either overshadowed, or both of those project (LG6 and ASIB) would parallelly co-promote each other.

Interscope is a for-profit organisation, they know she is going to be hot property during the ASIB run so I’m sure they are at least thinking of releasing some of the new music then.  Whether she agrees or not is something will we find out.

I think it is worth adding that y'all should not expect any hit from the soundtrack. They're just gonna release the album on platforms and that's all. Unless the movie is a huge success, there's no reason for one particular song to be successful. Unless they decide to push a song by means of radio deals, but knowing our sis, we can let it go.

Of course, there have been movie hits like "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody" and "Young and Beautiful" for The Great Gatsby, "Never Give Up" for LION, "Heathens" for Suicide Squad, etc. but those movies were huge.

J.Lo has released a movie and her second album at the same in 2002.

No one expects her to promote it all the way until Oscars, but there’s no way she’ll release LG6 this year. It’s just not realistic.

Multiple people she’s working with on LG6 said that new material is coming this year.

I'm talking mostly about her Oscar chances. I really don't think her new album would increase the critical success of the movie.

We know that the Academy is extremely traditional. Usually they are a pain in the ass with singers who become actors (Madonna was completely destroyed by movie critics, for example).

Gaga releasing a big pop album in this context could be seen as a very negative thing. She may be accused of trying to use the film to boost her own career. From this point of view, LG6 will do nothing but ruin her Oscar campaign. And, sadly, the Oscars are deeply influenced by the contenders campaign...

I'm very curious to find out what her strategy is.
