Kween 2,696
Even though I don’t understand his family’s position here, I think we should all accept their decision and be respectful. They are most likely in a very chaotic space right now and to me, it’s totally understandable how someone’s behavior could appear to be strange or irrational in such circumstances. JustYouandI 2,483
Just now, RAMROD said: It is the right thing to do. Gaga perhaps jumped into conclusion too soon. Or her sources are all wrong. But she was hasty to post about mental health when the cause of death are not 100% clear yet, and without conaidering Genest's family in mind too. A simple condolences would have been enough. Her sources were the same as everyone's, it was said to be suicide by the media. And honestly, when is suicide not related to mental health? I don't believe she jumped to conclusions by drawing a relation between a suicide and mental illness. His family doesn't think it was a premeditated suicide, which why she is apologizing. Those things, more often than not, always come months after deaths. Hence it is not 100% confirmed. ryanripley 86,575
gaga herself is going through grief and suicide is something very close to her i don't blame her for instantly tweeting as soon as the news broke (it's not her fault she was misinformed) but she's very sweet to clear it up https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
Hurem 17,800
Did I just see someone call his family ignorant for wanting Gaga's tweets gone? Jesus christ, y'all need help.

Whitney Houston's death was also a suicide, though, and not related to mental illness so while you're right that in most cases it is related to it, I think Gaga did the right thing by admitting she jumped to conclusions too quickly. Breakdown 444
Gaga and all of us were wrong for jumping into conclusions very fast, but it's good that she apologized, it shows how empathic she is with people. So starry eyed on the flowery hillside, breathless and fervid amid the dandelions.
DiscoHeaven23 35,007
oooh yikes that's a lil cringy. I'd be embarrassed, but good on her for clearing it up

I agree with this but, fyi Whitney's death wasn't declared a suicide. It was said to be drowning caused by the combination of heart disease and cocaine use. And addiction is an illness, soooooo. And again, in my honest, harmless opinion, there is no way, or very little chance, that a suicide isn't mental illness related.
Killa 17,461
Well i can umderstand. She did well im not very informed in the matter but it seems reasonable.
Glamourpuss 29,062
To be fair I did think when I first read the tweets that she was too quick to tweet and that her words were poorly chosen for the same reason she had to retract.

I mean we should not claim anything but the whole "he was not the type to commit suicide"/ "he had plans" is very worrying. One of my personal friends was about to graduate from college and seemed very happy but he comitted suicide . No one really knows what's going on someone else's head. I still don't know how he died. I'm confused. Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.

Borislshere 53,025
This is one of the things I admire so much about Gaga. She's one of the most genuine and caring people I have ever seen. When she makes mistakes, she apologizes and moves forward.
Luzaleja 1,853
I think it was Radio Canada the one who broke the news saying Montreal’s police said it was a suicide. I thought that was where she got the information from, and it’s why I thought it was confirmed. Regardless, I’m glad she retracted her words. His family’s feelings are most important right now. They knew his routine and it was very likely an accident according to that. I wish for them all the peace and strength they need in these moments.
