She always had a huge stigma surrounding her but recently I've seen older people in GP crowd to praise her. And this was socking considering the fact that I live in a rather conservative country. I also expressed my love for her in public one time and the reactions were not negative at all. She isn't in the center of public attention anymore therefore people tend to be mostly neutral on her.

Here. I’ll lay it out to you year by year:

2008: who?

2009: oh, yeah, I like her too. She’s very interesting and cool.

2010: OH MY GOD I LOVE HER AS WELL. SHE’s SO DIFFERENT.

2011: uhhhhh....

2012: she’s way too overrated. Plus, she’s not even talented

2013: she’s so desperate and attention seeking

2014: she’s kinda cool again

2015: oh yeah, what happened to Gaga? She’s really different now and it’s kinda nice

2016: I have a newfound respect for her

2017: Who doesn’t like Lady Gaga!?

2018: She’s god herself. A complete legend.

I'm 30 but others my age treat me like I'm into children's music and Gaga is just a children's entertainer. It's like it's not cool anymore. I don't understand it.

It's because they can't appreciate theatricality. I remember being in the staff cafeteria at work when Gaga performed on the XFactor. I think it was Halloween and she sang Marry the Night, and it looked like she had a severed head. This one guy stood up and was like "what the **** is she doing?! She's an embarrassment". And the whole room erupted in laughs and people agreeing.

When she did things like wear a meat dress the people I was surrounded with didn't get it and just thought she was an attention seeker pulling another stunt.

I think I'm just surrounded by assholes to be honest and I need to get far away from this town.

I got some weird reactions at secondary school in 2010 that I was a huge fan, then at high school nobody really cared

In 2010 everyone around me was talking about her being a man and the meat dress which I found lame

People at my school still can't get passed the meat dress which makes me cringe so hard and don't know that ARTPOP or Joanne even exists. Even the superbowl didn't get that many people at my school talking. Everyone at my school either listens to Lil Uzi Vert or Logic or like 60's rock so to everyone at my school listening to gaga is lame but to everyone in my family or real friends it's not a big deal and most of my family likes her. :koons:

Yes, usually people will just deem her as a talentless singer since she's pop. When people ask me what kind of music I listen, I always say I'm a huge Gaga fan and then talk about other music I like, classical music, jazz, rock... I can feel them judging me at the Gaga part. But I met some people who said they liked her, thought she was talented and she sang very well. Some people also know she's more talented than most pop stars.
