I wouldn't say Pink is undeserving of the Vanguard award. She started out rough and had a lot of dark tribulations in her life. She was self taught and written her own lyrics and touched ALOT of lives with her music. Her first few albums were golden and had a lot of genuine emotion in it. Still does. Watch Pink!: Behind The Music. Gaga i'd say in a couple years without a doubt will snag the Vanguard award. She's just now getting a decade under her belt.

What does that have to do with her videos?  The award was named after him for a reason.  It's because of his iconic innovative game-changing music videos and should go to someone who walks in his footsteps.  Does JLo deserve this award?  Nope.  Nor does Pink.

Honestly, this year I wouldn't want Gags to have it. This year has been more about the Hip hop, contemporary and urban genre dominating the charts. It'll be massively killer if she'll have it when pop stars and is back slaying the charts again.

I want it to be a moment in pop culture where people will tune in to MTV because the music has been good on that year; MTV gets their sh*t together and Gags is finally on the pedestal of greatness. A perfect storm.

I don't certainly hate the fact that JLo got it... She's not groundbreaking in any sense but she's been really consistent over the years, which is important to me. She doesn't experiment a lot because she knows what she's good at and she keeps doing it successfully. Anyway, it's not like the MTV Vanguard Award is a huge honour or anything, especially now that almost nobody cares about the VMAs.

I think MTV forgot the point about the award. It stands for Vanguard. I'm not hating JLo but I don't think her videos have the "Vanguard" factor. And this is not a bad thing! You don't have to be that way to be good but it's like telling me her videos are in the same level (in therms of vanguard not quality) as Michael's, Madonna's, Britney's or even Beyonce's when they are clearly not.
