MTV have to be trolling everyone by now. Other than On The Floor, who really remembers a J-Lo video or would list any among their top faves of all time? She's known for her singles but not the videos they accompanied. All Latin acts get high YouTube views because that's how the majority of Latin fans listen to their music, it's a big advantage she gets that's ultimately rather meaningless if it's just the same people listening over and over. But even then, other Latin acts still get way better views.

An actual mess lmao. Out of everybody that should get the VVA and they give it to Jennifer Lopez of all musicians? The only thing she's truly memorable for in a 25 year career besides being a Fly Girl on In Living Color and playing Selena is Waiting For Tonight. Otherwise her videos are insanely boring and basic. Missy truly was robbed of this award because her videos were far more memorable and iconic (hello Hype Williams) over Jennifer Lopez' videos. Jennifer on the other hand was relevant in like 2002 but let's cut the bullsh*t. Mariah was right...

I love jlo & will always support my fellow Latinas but sis has done NOTHING in the music industry to warrant receiving the vanguard award

Guys don't you think that awards like these are given to people who are available and want it? I mean Jennifer maybe wanted it and they gave it to her. Taylor and Gaga are clearly busy and are probably not even considering it right now.

Damn they really snubbed Taylor. Only 3 minor nominations while all of her videos were visually more pleasing than almost every nominated video And not even a vanguard VMA's are over anyways, if they want high ratings they should've chosen Gaga at least

Even if it was Gaga receiving the award I wouldn’t care tbh (I would only care for the iconic performance she would deliver). The VMA award itself is garbage nowadays and we shouldn’t really be that pressedT about it tbh

I think she does deserve it. She was huge for a few years after Selena with couple of smash hits (they were huge!) and had On the Floor etc in subsequent years. Successful movies too. She's been in the industry for over 20 years. So yeah totally deserved. Much more than Tay or Gaga at this point. 

I suppose younger audience is just not that familiar with her earlier success and career. 🙃

I don't see what the problem is with Jennifer Lopez getting the award. She's been in the business for a long time and in the early noughts she was huge! She was one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, her music was everywhere. I've just looked up her videos on YouTube. They might not be edgy like other artists but she has many of them and is not deserving than somebody only in the industry less than 10 years. Gaga deserves it obviously but give JLo a break. Most of you were too young to realise the impact she had back then.
