“Yoü and I” is One of Gaga’s Most Sonically Classic Song

I mean, “Yoü and I”, along with TEOG, have  always been my top 2 songs (since I first heard them at least). They are so good! I was relistening to the BTW album the other morning at the gym and was tweeting these thoughts and after seeing someone post how they prefer BTW: The Country Road Version to the original (same! I was tweeting that same thing), I figured I would post my thoughts on Y&I.

 

So IMO, “Yoü and I” is Lady Gaga’s all-around best, most classic song, by far. The lyrics are fantastic and so well written, like they pull you into the story right from the start, the chorus is catchy, great production from LEGENDARY producer Robert “Mutt” Lange (my dream is for her to work with him again), the Queen sample is perfection, lengendary guitarist BRIAN MAY performs on it, and it is supported by one of her best videos.

A classic arena rock pop song  in 2011 that sounds timeless and just at home in a gay bar as it does in a biker bar...can you believe?! Only Gaga. 

Every time I listen to that song, it just gets better and better. I know it’s not her most popular or biggest song, but I remember when it was a single, so many non Gaga fans commented on how they love the song. It has broad appeal and a classic sound for generations of music fans. Even not that long ago I posted a IG video with the song and a lady I work with commented she never knew Gaga made music like that and that she LOVED the song.

I feel the song is so underappreciated (just like “Teeth”, another fave of mine) by fans, but is definitely loved by Gaga. Give me the Gaga that is inspired by her love of classic rock and pop all the time! That’s my favorite.

And please work with Robert “Mutt” Lange again!

I love the lyrics and the outro of Y&I.  However the production is just not my cup of tea.

It's a good song but I wouldn't consider it her most classic

I mean most (the GP) would probably consider for example Just Dance, Alejandro & Bad Romance her most classic forever

I changed the thread title to better clarify what I meant by classic.

I totally agree with what y’all are sayin...in terms of GP recognition and whatnot, Y&I is sadly not her most classic in that regards, but is definitely top 15 (based on her number of times performing and whatnot too). When I said most classic, I guess I meant more her most sonically classic, which I explain in my post.

Tbh i skip it all the time. I dont really like the production.

Ill never forget the hype when she first performed it on gma orvwhatever it was. It sure is one her best compositions

Edge of Glory and Yoü and I are by far my favorite Gaga songs. Since the second I heard them. They’re perfect and I couldn’t agree with you more. Honestly, I do think over time, like in fifty years, they actually will become two of her most remembered songs because of their brilliance sonically and lyrically.

Not ''classic'' like a signature hit, he means ''classic'' in the way that the song sounds timeless and undated.

And I agree because that song really has the feel of an old arena rock song. Especially with that Queen sample and those  strong rock and roll, country vibes. I find the song just ok but it's indeed Gaga's most classic song.

You & I is a freaking masterpiece. When she released the song as single I got my interest back into her (bcs I didn't like anything about Born This Way until I heard You & I again and saw the video, then it became my favorite album ever). It's definitely in her top 5 of best songs
