Left winger pundits blame the right for lack of regulations on a flawed policy.. This! Although I think bush added to housing distortion by adding a backstop to banks with fanae Mae and Freddie Mac I think it was. I know he did something that was supposed to further help middle class get their homes which added fuel to the housing market Anyway my opinion on Left Wing vs Right Winged is a little more complicated than most people's opinions. I don't think it's a simple as one is bad and one is good. First of all I think both left and right taken to an extreme is bad. Too much Capitalism and the most disadvantaged get screwed over. Too much socialism and high taxes and excessive regulation will chock off business investment However I think there's a certain pretty wide range on the spectrum from left to right that can both work and fail depending on how competent the Government is. For example a place a little more left may tax a little more. But if they use those dollars well, an educated and productive work force or good infrastructure may offset higher taxes in terms of economic competitiveness. Companies don't ONLY look at tax rates when deciding where to invest. However there is a threshold that u cross that if taxes were to get too high, no amount of high class workforce or infrastructure would make investing there worth it Same with regulations. Not all regulations are equal. How much they damage economy also depends on how thought-out they are and how many side effects or unintended consequences they have. Almost all regulations have downsides (or cons). But sometimes the pros may outway the cons on a net basis and therefore being good for the overall economy. Sometimes they are not A good competent Government would know how to descern when a regulation is worth the negatives and when it's not. For instance here in Canada some hard new regulations are forcing would be buyers out if market and creating a lot of renter's, more than ideal. That's an unintended consequence, but you can argue that with the run away prices and vulnerabilities extremely high debt is causing in the economy, the benefits of putting a cap on this borrowing under the current circumstances justifies the really tight regulations. However under normal circumstances maybe in other countries they would not There's prosperous lands that are more Capitalist than some socialist lands and there's prosperous lands that are more socialist than some Capitalist lands Scandinavian Countries did great with socialism, the Government decides how to run and spend more of the Countries wealth vs most other lands and they ran it an invested well. Some socialist lands like Venezuela botched up the economy real bad and they would of been better off if the private sector did investments themselves Take away, left and right have pros and cons. Both taken to an extreme are bad, but how much in between in the spectrum is ideal depends on several variables and how well that strategy is executed

Most people don't realize more regulations wouldn't have stopped this crisis, Clinton ultimately helped fuel it. GGD Presidential Elections
