hotnpsychoxxx 247
Well, Bad Romance peaked at #2 smh
Illuminati 15,922
Gaga's career model is oriented for mass appeal and chart success despite her trying out different things, so yes. If I didn't want her to succeed I would expect more frequent releases like Lana Del Rey who puts out quality almost every year.
FfFfFfFF 56,080
It matters in a way that I'm happy that her work is acknowledged by the public. But other than that I don't care about her commercial success and I don't want to release music centered around commercial appeal looking for hits. ThisGuyTony 30,727
Perfect Illusion and Do What U Want are her best songs and they only peaked at #15 and #13. I will bop to and enjoy her music no matter how it does but not gonna lie that seeing her music having chart success and longevity does feel good. weed 73,914
I mean it has no effect on how I listen to music or who or anything of the sort, but yes I definitely do want anything Gaga does to be as successful as possible
Babel 41,494
Who wouldn’t want to be successful at what one does? Of course it is important, and it’s a great feeling to be recognized for your creation. the thing is people get obsessed with commercial success and keep asking for more and more, and doesn’t know when to stop and say enough (Troy Carter). River 117,255
When it's corresponding to my opinion about an album, yeah, I want to see if I'm the only one who didn't like the album or it's really bad.. Like Liberation.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

So I voted "to a degree" since I would rather have an iconic song than a #1 one. Firewerk and ...Beby 2 Mor Timz ♡ nyc ♡
Method 45
Of course I'd like Gaga to succeed, but I'd rather have an underappreciated masterpiece than an overvalued generic song.
ArtGagaPop 61,940
Yes music and the bling please But i won't change my mind about the music or something just because it underpeforms. But i think it's fun to hear her songs on the radio, in public and when friends and family discover her songs on their own etc. Chart succes adds to the era and also makes interscope and Gaga likely to add more singles and do more videos which is a good thing. Twitter 14
I’m definitely in between, because Gaga puts out quality singles and they deserve to shine and peak in the Top 3, 5, or 10. ARTPOP & Joanne era I didn’t care so much but now we live in a streaming era so we need the music and the bling!
Tyler1992 2,264
It used to be important to me because I thought it was the only thing that could maintain Gaga's relevancy and freedom to create whatever she wanted to. Now I realize that chasing number 1's isn't good in the long term, taking the long road and thinking about her future 10 years from now is more important than a fleeting #1 single. Diversifying her career and doing other projects that gain her credibility (Oscar performances/TV/film/Jazz/tributes) are what will make her a legend down the road, not a week or two at #1. Focusing on quality albums and songs, seeing her vision through is more important collaborating with the hit-maker-of-the-month. For example, when Gaga released ARTPOP and it received criticism, she didn't panic and make a last ditch effort to go the safe route to maintain her image, she doubled down and made things even weirder for the sake of the albums concept. I like that Gaga has integrity in what she is creating, and doesn't focus her time distracting herself with trying to make a hit for the sake of a hit, it isn't sustainable down the road. As a Katy stan, I was a little disappointed that she ditched her vision of Witness when Chained to the Rhythm didn't do as well as she wanted. Bon Appetit seemed like she was panicking and trying to do damage control. Witness was a good concept and she would have more credibility if she just saw the concept thing through, rather than ditching it for more hits. Gaga's been there done that, she doesn't have to have hits to maintain her status, she's already been to the top. Though I can't lie- it is still exhilarating to hang out in the chart threads when her new singles arrive.
