Some fast facts about the album: 💎 The album had five singles: Everybody (released in 1982), Burning Up, Holiday, Lucky Star, and Borderline (the last three were successful international top 10 hits) 💎 It debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at #190 in September 1983, and eventually peaked at #8 in October 1984. 💎 It went 5x platinum in the US, and sold 10 million copies worldwide 💎 According to Wikipedia, it was recorded using "new technology of the time, including the Linn drum machine, Moog bass and Oberheim OB-X synthesizer" 💎 Critics now claim that this album "launched dance-pop, and set the standard for the genre for the next two decades". However, when it was first released, some reviewers said she sounded like "Minnie Mouse on helium". In response to this, Madonna "did a photoshoot with Alberto Tolot, where she flirted with a giant Mickey Mouse toy, putting its hand inside her dress and looking at it with an admonishing glare" Happy Birthday to an iconic album!
