This shows what kind of character you’ve got.

Imagine if that was your family member that got molested or assaulted by an artist??

Would you say it’s about the MUSIC ??

Exactly.

Taking it one step further, you could argue that Nicki is trying to profit from the child's misfortune. She's deliberately chosen to get the shock factor of this guy's extreme wrongdoings to maintain/revive her career, it's wrong on so many levels.

The thing is though, it's not going to be very popular at all so I don't particularly see why it's necessary to give this person and the song more publicity than it deserves.

As for Nicki, I am tending to lean on the side of her not (or barely) even knowing about this. Everybody needs to appreciate that artists are very busy and do not consume all of the news/scandals etc. that us fans do.

Even still, I do have sympathy for Nicki, she's a great (not iconic, but still great) artist who is constantly **** on for no real reason. I could't even imagine how much will power it would take to remain relevant in a vastly male dominated genre, especially when there isn't a sense of sisterhood on the female rap scene.

Also, Nicki is not making that much money (even though it's still much more than the average person) because she is not a touring force, doesn't sell very much (about average or just below) and, to my knowledge, has barely any brand deals or anything like that. So, if she needs to rap a verse for someone for 250k to pay for people's tuition, pay her mortgage, give to charity or maintain her career then that's fine with me.

The most important thing to remember is to keep things in perspective. The song is not much (if any) more popular because of Nicki's presence so I don't think she's helping an paedophile make more money and realistically, she's not the paedophile. So, if she wants to exploit the paedophile to make money then that is a ok with me.

Spoiler

P.s. NOT a nicki stan whatsoever

The Nicki hate train is so tiring... this article didn't have ONE valid point. Who the **** let this person publish this? Embarrassing for a site like Forbes to post something as unprofessional and invalid like this. Every artist has an underperforming era. What's the big deal? I'm sure Nicki wasn't aware that he was a pedophile. (Reports on his case say the girl lied about her age).

edit: if the main thing you really have to address is an underperforming era, girl..

Exactly, it's worse because the only thing the public knows about him is his dodgy past rather than his success or talent.

She's fishing for attention by going controversial, and is using the wrong bait altogether.

'the public' don't even know he exists girl, his demographic is very small...

Something as simple as her going out in a thong would get her more attention than this, your point makes no sense whatsoever.

yeah I don't know anything about him tbh, I assumed 'alleged'... will remove it

Also though, who doesn't go to prison for having sex with a 13 year old? The USA needs to get its **** together. If the prosecution in the UK had video evidence of paedophilia, the chances of a plea deal would be slim to none.

This is like what Gaga did with R Kelly except some people do appreciate R Kelly's talents

The media does this to all successful females. Gaga, Katy, Taylor, Minaj. It’s a step in the process.
