For me, if the song would have been released as a third single maybe it would have been much better

I think it deserves more acknowledgement by the GP, so it's underrated in that sense, but I think it's overrated by this fanbase imo

Plus, her performances of it are so passionate and authentic. The piano, the rage, the will to live and be free. This song is gaga's blood.

Reading this I got disappointed she didn't perform it on the JWT :selena:

It's one of the two very best songs on BTW (the other being "Yoü + I"), and it's easily in the top 5 of her discography.

It has everything I've come to expect from Gaga: a great beat, unique production, it builds beautifully, soaring vocals, the outro is incredible, and it's a piece that means something.

I love it.

I agree its one of the best songs on BTW. I just think the lyrics are too deep for the GP, and Gaga was literally everywhere at the time

Marry The Night and Bad Romance are my two favorite songs ever. Marry The Night is just epic—it’s personal, it’s catchy, it starts out serene and light and builds to a powerful, explosive climax. There is no song like it in Gaga’s discography, let alone any other pop star’s discography. It’s truly one of a kind and it is EXTREMELY underrated.

YES. THANK. YOU.

Not to mention the video is a masterpiece mini-documentary about Gaga. That she made something like that as the last video of the era is astounding.

I personally think Marry the Night should've been the lead single. Born This Way is catchy/strong enough to do well wherever you put it, but Marry the Night needed the help of hype for Gaga's return. MTN could've been a #1 if it had been the lead imo and then I still think BTW would've hit #1. That might've also helped in avoiding (or at least preventing) the Madonna controversy that surrounded BTW.

If I could pick the singles from Born This Way I would make Marry the Night first, then Born This Way (shortly before the album release), then Edge of Glory, and You and I.

Not only is the song incredible, but the video is, to me, one of her very best, if not her best, on a narrative and creative point of view.

The lyrics in the verses are too simplistic and fall flat. Especially the 2nd verse. The instrumental is quite tinny and busy. I can think of many other tracks that outshine it.

HIGHLY UNDERRATED

One of my FAVORITE SONG OF HERS

It's a timeless gem, so beautiful, honestly, it's part of my small list of timeless great songs to me, and it might sound exaggerated to some of y'all, but play that **** super loud with bass boosted type of amplifier, you'll see what I mean.

It's not cheesy, it's not "trendy", the lyrics are great, the instru sounds like a mix of 70s, 80s, and late 2000's.

And as the song goes on, the energy builds up, more and more, and you're just part of a beautiful bubble of art filled with nostalgia, happiness, frustration and despair. And that's the Gaga magic, she's art, making art and you feel like art listening to her

Not really. It's great song but an awful choice for a single. It could not be a smash. Like the other songs, it would have been a smash as first single. Maybe it would have done well in the US instead of Judas, but still Judas in the rest of the world. Other than that, I think there was no way to make it a hit.
