Honestly everything here is just similarities and coincidences. You're entire premise has to rely on Marina being inspired by Florence when we know that probably didn't happen. And I doubt that Christine person was inspired by either Florence or Marina who have both become cult bands.

No it was a trend in the 20th century with rock bands but it became a thing again now. In the case of bands unfortunately it's the opposite that happens, people tend to forget about the other members.

I'm sure you can find other artists like this, even small and local acts. Here are a few that I found :

Janine and the Mixtape
Jaron and the Long Road to Love
Jessie and The Toy Boys

Not surprisingly, a lot changed their name later, probably because they were thought as a band.
