Like Gaga herself said, "I never do the same thing twice. Did anyone get the memo? Born This Way was like nothing on the radio. Applause was like nothing on the radio. Perfect Illusion is like nothing on the radio. They're in for a ride."

Did Gaga really say this? :air: Mess if so.

Born This Way, as much as I love it, was totally on trend with the synthy dance pop songs all over radio at the time. Songs like On The Floor and E.T. were the big hits, and are just like BTW.

Applause was still a fast-paced electro pop song as well.

PI is the only one that was actually different and subversive. :messga:

Yeah she told that to Zane Lowe.

This out of the world Instrumental says it all....

I think what they need is, before the final outcome of the song is launched, the songs need to be valuated objectively by G.P , to check whether it is easy to listen or not..

I have listened all the instrumental of gaga songs that produced by DJWS, Bloodpop or Mark Ronson, and all of them are totally bops!,

Joanne n ARTPOP are my favorites by Gaga............. then no.

But I wish they work together on a less pop and more jazz album, ala Back to Black.

The album doesn't really excite me  how much of Mark's fault that is, who knows.

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

Working with Mark and making Joanne was a necessary step for Gaga to be able to move on from her past and for people to start seeing that behind the aura-ah-ah was still a human being. That was the ultimate goal for Joanne imo - and she achieved it.

I have friends that hated Gaga pre 5ft2/Joanne and all it took was seeing that human element of her for them to warm to who she is and appreciate her musical talents.

Not the bore worms!

Joanne is 100% my favorite Gaga album, no question. I'm glad that she worked with Mark, it brought out a very deep side of her that I don't think we would have ever seen otherwise. In decades this will still be one of my favorite Gaga albums, if not my favorite. ARTPOP is a close second, I think it's just as personal, just a much more aggressive sound.

NO! It wasn't a mistake and it never will be. Mark brings Gaga to a new level as a musician / singer and human being. Bless Him!!

No, it's probably her most timeless-sounding album. While other electronic albums will be directly attributed to the year(s) that they were conceived, Joanne is one that will sound almost exactly the same in 50 years.

Electronic/synth is a much broader sound than what you're giving credit for. Can you name another notable pop song from 2010/11 that sounds anything like "Bloody Mary" or "Scheiße" or "Heavy Metal Lover"?

You're correct that Born This Way shares a genre with the more listless songs you mentioned, but that's about it.

Not at all - she enjoyed doing so and that's what matters the most.

It was a quote about her lead singles henny...

You’d be foolish to argue that Track 2 of Lady Gaga’s 2011 sophomore LP ‘Born This Way’, that is, the track between Marry the Night and Government Hooker, was anything but on trend with the radio sound at the time.

Other tracks on the album less so, although they are all still straightforward (albeit creative) pop songs, which is what my original post was about- Gaga’s albums, sans Joanne, take their desired sound (in the case of BTW that being industrial dance pop) down interesting routes with unexpected canvassing. They’re pop songs with a funky over layer basically.
