Excuse me but no.

Changing the law doesn't mean they didn't infringe it in the first place

Excuse me but yes.

There are literally people serving life sentences for literally have a dimebag on them. It is extremely unjust to serve your whole life in prison filled with rapists and murderers because you had a ****ing blunt on you.

Not to mention POC are the ones the authorities prosecute, while giving whites a slap on the wrist for possessing the same amount on them.

Everyone jailed for possession (and not for intent to distribute) should 100% be let out. Or at the VERY MINIMUM have their sentences reduced extremely.

It might be the right thing to do but whatever changes are made to the law, they still infringed it when it was illegal. Thats his point. Strictly legal, not moral or fair

Not really, they can still sue if they are not release because they are servering time for a specific crime that is no longer a crime. they are not server time being being bad, or breaking a law.. It is a specific law that would no longer be valid.

No this is ignorant.

Just repealing an offence does not make the people serving time for it suddenly free.

It would be up to the legislators to include in the act repealing the offence an amnesty to certain people, with the parameters they choose.

Usually, once a conviction is final, the time youre serving is too in principle.

That is what is included in the bill, To release past offenders. I mean would you like it if you were in a country that made same sex intercourse illegal then decriminalized it but kept everyone locked up?

also, repealing an offence is quite different from a judgement of a court saying a law is invalid.

Europe could never.

Like seriously, Luxembourg has the 'idea' of legalizing weed, but they're too afraid of legalizing it recreationally because it would create the 'wrong' type of tourism
