There is a reason why Rep and Dem fight to nominate more conservative or progressive justices  If you could be sure they're neutral, the republican senators would not have refused to vote for Judge Garland for example, but they did because he was not enough conservative

actually republicans really liked garland but at the time republican philosophy was generally anti obama, meaning they actively worked as a unit to block most of what obama pushed for, even if they had at one time advocated and supported something. by that logic i assume that merrick garland was also a conservative judge and the outcome probably would have been the same?

contrary to popular belief, the supreme court right now is kind of how it was before antonin scalia died (he was a conservative judge replaced by a conservate, gorsuch). right now there are 4 conservative judges, 4 liberal judges, and justice kennedy is usually the deciding middle vote.

We lost the Supreme Court and an entire generation is lost, if not more due to the precedents that are set and almost impossible to overturn. 

Elections have consequences and this last Presidential election will have rulings and far reaching consequences that will last for our lifetimes and beyond.

i’m scared the same thing will happen to Canada, as the Conservator party is slowly taking over the Liberals...

I really hope the youth will step up and vote for the federal elections in 2019
