I think it's way too early to talk on the impact of any of the songs in ASIB, however based off rumors that I've seen, I'm pretty sure we will be seeing some pretty emotional and impactful musical performances in the film. As far as the Celine Dion song from Deadpool, I'm not too worried about it. I don't even remember the song in the movie. Does anybody know when they play it? So far her biggest competition is "All the Stars" from Black Panther, by a mile. It's a hit song from a critically acclaimed artist (I mean Kendrick just won a Pulitzer Prize) and it's attached to a popular movie. I think the timing is also pretty good politically, after the #OscarsSoWhite backlash I think the academy will be more eager to avoid overlooking people of colour. (That's not to imply that Kendrick would be given the award only due to his skin colour, or that it wouldn't be deserved, just that with the political climate the academy is probably less likely to overlook the work done by people of colour as it has in previous years). I think Kendrick is a pretty safe choice for them at the moment. Mary Poppins Returns might churn out a song deemed worthy, Disney might score another nod with The Nutcracker and the Four Realms or some other film. It's still very early though - so take these predictions with way more than a pinch of salt. Birdman isn't really a superhero film, is it? Other films only won at technical categories. I'm just not sure if they have been nominated for Best Original Song before.
