lmao this fanbase needs to understand this isn't La La Land or Greatest Showman or Avengers.

yes "Lady Gaga" is in it, but it's not being marketed as her movie debut. It's not a blockbuster, or a super high profile release. From what we see now and have heard all this months, it's being rolled out as a cute small studio ready for awards season. This doesn't mean it's going to flop, and of course Gaga is going to be paraded around for promo and stuff, but people seriously need to adjust their expectations and let it be.

Comparing it to The Greatest Showman, a winter blockbuster featuring original songs and an all star cast, is ridiculous.

Hugh Jackman is the only A-lister in TGSM

But it is extremely leggy and is just behind the Titanic in terms of legs. It finished with a good multiplier

It's not a blockbuster or a horror movie, it's a musical drama, don't expect the trailer to be over the top...

Let's say that many people didn't watch the trailer for Call Me By Your Name but they heard of it from the media and this made them want to go.. this is how it works with drama movies..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Jesus. Things dont work that way. In movies Word of mouth is the key. After the release that is.

Movie trailers usually get views even after they premiere in theaters, through word of mouth of how good the movie is, the views grow day by day. It's barely 4 hours since the release of the trailer, it will continue to grow when people talk about it.

This is especially the case with movies which target awards (as opposed to commercial blockbusters).

I can't think of any right now but usually movies which aim for Oscars only get attention AFTER they are released. And the views increase significantly after that. We have a long way to go.

I can say films that got great views and underperformed. And low views and outperformed. Movies are not pop albums.

That's great news then! It means there's still a chance

Views don't really matter to movies like this.

Call Me By Your Name has 10 million views in 10 months, that's like 1 million per month, yet it's nominated for tons of Oscars and Golden Globes and other awards.

I think it’s difficult. This morning I was sure the movie will flop what concerns the GP. After seeing the trailer I changed my mind a bit. But now this again. I think we will know when the movie is in theaters. I think it’s difficult to predict so let’s wait and see
