Ziggy 11,858
Tbh I'm glad she stays out of politics because when she has spoken about them in the past she reveals her privileged ignorance in them. Her feminism is totally self-serving and whack, for instance. So to come out and say this, what is a very non-radical way of expressing support for the LGBTQA community, I say good on her. I mean, do I wish she was more outspoken given her very specific position? Yes, but in the reality that she isn't I am happy that at the very least she knows it's probably better to not say anything. In this case, maybe it was late, maybe it was a safe time for her professionally to do so, and maybe it was not all we would hope to come from a woman in her position, but she did it anyway and if we can get more people to speak up then that's never a bad thing. I personally am no fan of hers or her music, but hey, I'm not going to bash someone who speaks up and speaks out to help young people that may need it. Good for her. It isn't their job to be political, their job is to sing and entertain people, in which they do. If an artist doesn't want to share their political views, they shouldn't. I disagree with this point because I think all art is political whether or not someone wishes it to be or not. Politics is not solely relegated to legislation, executive action and judicial interpretation. It is in your lifestyle, the way you see and think, and most especially in the statements you make whatever they are. Being an artist means expressing your politics on a larger platform even if those politics are seemingly tame or uncontroversial. I don't think artists need to plainly spell out their views (as Gaga does, though good for her for doing so), but listen to and interpret their art because, like it or not, those are riddled with their politics and you'll more often than not find an answer there. If it's not in their output, well, then that says how much they care about a certain issue. Born This Way, the album, tells me that Gaga cares *a lot* for youth culture and identity expression, for instance, and she didn't even have to say that. monster4life231 4,304
That’s good that she has celebrated LGBT rights in one show, but hunny, gaga does it with every show and every breath she takes. spread peace - #MJInnocent
JohnnyVersace 9,023
That’s nice and all. But she still skirts around words that would offend. She’ll never be a true advocate if she can’t even utter the word “gay.”

Chamaquito 1,186
Yes, we want celebrities to voice their support and do more for the most vulnerable because they have a bigger platform. Just like Gaga told us at The Monster Ball that we were all born this way and later came out with an album that saved many, I don’t see nothing wrong with this. I’m sure somewhere there’s a gay kid who loves Taylor and feels empowered with her speech. Especially in the political climate we’re in right now. I’m actually nice. Dunk96 2,526
I'm not the biggest Taylor Swift fan but I do applaud her for acknowledging LGBT people and issues. It's nice to see more and more celebrities and artists come out for the people of our community and support us.
Pop Music 20,540
I was in the audience at this show and I started crying. She's been so quiet about her views on anything basically. When I knew the moment that both of my queens support me it was a magical feeling. Pop Music and Lady Gaga forever!
