Gaga’s hymn was arguably a misstep

Good luck trying to write a song about a culture that changes every time a person burps.

:huntyga:

It's a song about celebrating you. Every YOU out there. The You of You! I think arguing against it is sad. People will crap on everything.

Life is way easier without all of that. Love u guys and ladies! Xoxo

When will people stop f*cking over-analyzing this song. Fine no more empowerment anthems f*ck that amirite. Ungrateful folks...

don't worry, it's trendy to over-analyze & be offended at everything these days. in a few years, things will change, probably for the worse though :ohwell:

Yes it has.

Chola and orient made? Seriously?

Yeah idk why this hasn’t been made a bigger deal out of when it’s easily the most troubling aspect of the song. I’ve heard things mentioned here and there over the past 7 or so years but nothing major which, frankly, surprises me lol

Born this Way is supposed to be an empowering anthem for the disenfranchised. The lyrics do not literally mean we were born with our biological parts and that is that, but rather that who you are is your truth and that is something that cannot be taken away. Moreover, that those differences are not a mistake and that no matter what path you take to feeling comfortable with yourself, you were brought into this world to survive and survive you should.

If you take the song literally, maybe it can be hard to see, but this just seems like a case of overthinking way too much.

And I doubt transphobic people are going to take a Lady Gaga song and use it against the community. JFC.

What you wrote was so cool that it deserved to be published by all magazines and digital media.:tony:

I'm surprised the line "'cause God makes no mistakes" wasn't mentioned in the article. Clearly that would be the transphobic lyric in it lol

"Last week, a study released in Belgium suggested that trans people’s brains – including those of trans children – more closely matched those belonging to other members of the gender they identified with than with members of the gender associated with their sex at birth."

It's a song that's meant to uplift and inspire LGBT youth. It's not supposed to be taken so literally line by line like a f*cking dissertation. It's art, which is open to interpretation. "Born this way" is what you choose it to be. You're not stuck with your identity at birth. :madge:

It's actually a good article, the primary thematic point being that it shouldn't even matter if you are "born this way" or if you make a choice, people still need to be respected.

Maybe taking off the stan glasses for a few minutes when reading would help.  Or reading more than the headline lol.

Hey guys Shon Faye is actually a Gaga fan - I follow her on Twitter.

I don't see this article as being a '**** Gaga' piece, I see it more as being how the song has been misinterpreted and is now being used to actively target the T in LGBT.

Also like yall need to chill tf out??

Battle 4 Ur Life

she is just bored and decided listing the reasons why the song doesn't work for her. which is fine but definitely not article-worthy.

“Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
