REALITY 74,881
Honestly, I sometimes have a difficult time seeing all these eras being done by the same person. I don't know if anyone else feels that way, but because every era is distinct in its own way, it's hard for me to wrap my mind around how one person has been able to pull off all these different aesthetics, genres, etc. I also think that because her speaking/singing voice has changed quite drastically, it also helps with making each era distinct in its own way. Personally, I love it. Even though each era is succinctly its own, knowing that one person was able to accomplish all that shows true versatility. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
culturalbaptism 2,767
It's just who she is and how she's feeling at the moment. It's not like she sits down wondering what culture and sound will she appropriate next. The Fame was her big break. The album was about fame is how you feel about yourself. The Fame Monster was about the ****ty things she experienced in the process of becoming famous. Born This Way was about leaving her mark in the world and delivering her best and what she represents. ARTPOP was about celebration, sex and art. Then she had the backlash. Cheek To Cheek was her way to stepping away from that toxic place and healing herself. Joanne is about her as Stefani. I'm sure her next studio album will be very interesting and will reflect her life in these couple of years. I would really love a more mature sound. I know people will drag me but a pop album with R&B influences would be very sophisticated. Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.
Guest JolanJoringel
I totally agree with you, I am just sad that you excluded the wonderful C2C-era, because it's an important example for her ability to change and reinvent herself!

And to call it Dance Pop is a little bit of a stretch that’s more like TF or AP. So I don’t know why whoever put that in there did. Joanne is country pop, funk pop, dance pop (with songs like John Wayne) and a little soft rock. You quoted the wrong person though I agree with you. It was an other person saying it’s not. Addison Rae 15,695
She plays with identity and transformation so much. Each era gives us a new persona/character with new speaking voices, styles and music. I feel like everything she does is a performance of some sort. Like many people have said already, we may not like some parts such as the music, but you can’t help but still follow and be in awe of her every move. I love her so much because of this ugh we stan a LEGEND sitting on his lap sipping diet pepsi
misunderstood 8,736
I always think about this and talk about it. It’s so insane how the same girl singing perfect illusion is the same one that sang Poker Face. Miracle 14,068
I feel like this post doesn't make Gaga and the Haus of Gaga's creativity justice. Let me make a longer post about the three first eras fashion, which I feel were underrepresented by the OP The Fame era (2008): The early beginnings were all about parodying the blonde bombshell stereotype (leotards, bangs, wearing stage/dance clothing when going out) with not-so-subtle splatters of Bowie, Grace Jones and even Barbie. As months go by, her wardrobe evolves as she starts wearing more fashion forward, origami mini dresses and Mondrian inspired outfits, obviously inspired by 80s Mugler and Ziggy Stardust Make up: exaggerated black liner, non-defined bronzer, giant lashes, nude/pink lips. Colour palette: black, gold, baby pink, pops of red and yellow. Hair: Bangs and long blonde hair Fashion: Haus of Gaga, Chanel, Vintage Mugler The Fame (2009) 2009 is the year of the original Lady Gaga's incarnation persona. She keeps up with the "Spoof of the Blonde Bombshell" theme until late summer, where she kills it onstage, but gives it refinement and a new perspective. The new perspective mostly consists of the adding of pseudo-avantgarde elements and tech. Lavender ombre hair is a constant Before turning into full mistress of the high-concept glam dark, she had a short era of Burlesque pop. Make up: dark lips, softer bronzer and highlighter Colour palette: Metallic shades, lavender, black, blue Hair: short bobss, bangs and curls, fascinators The Fame Monster (late 2009-2010) VMAs 2009 were the turning point. Gaga killed the platinum blonde diva by hanging and turned into Vampira. By October / November 2018, Gaga's left her original panties and origami dresses replicas in the locker room and has fully dedicated herself to either fully wearing goth clothes or making a thought-out shocking statement with every outfit As Gaga always do, recording an album usually means the spirit of it takes her soul in every way, and in June, we can already see our queen slaying some of Born This Way's signature elements: heelless platforms, grey hair and leather, but still with minimal, goth-y make up Gaga finished the era fashion-wise with a bang, a mix of the best of TFM and the fantasy that was coming Make up: minimalistic goth, white clown face, dark lips Hair: straight white, platinum, grey, intricated up-dos, wigs, wigs, wigs across the board Colour palette: black, grey, platinum blonde Fetish designer: Alexander Mcqueen, Jeremy Scott, Armani, Born This Way (2011) In the first span of this era, Gaga completely ignores any kind of conventional beauty and goes for either bizarre alien looking look or club kid. Gaga's vision of the new G.O.A.T alien species comes in latex, prothesis, FX make up and Batcave inspired make up. Whenever she's not sporting avant-garde dramatic editorial looks, something she does almost all the time during these first months of promotion, she's seen wearing the same eye make up with punk vests, leather and double-coloured hair, which she later adds to her high-fashion looks. The white/black hair era would last for about three months, until teal pulls in The teal wig would mean more colour for the Born This Way era but black wasn't going to leave. For the end of the era, platinum blonde and grey would make a surprising comeback Colour palette: Pale pink, black, red, grey, teal Make up: prosthetics, masks, heavy contour/angled face, ivory foundation with pink undertones Hair: salmon, grey, teal, blonde
