Azealia's music is most heavily influenced by the scene Ru was a part of. As you said she has been listening to house since she was 12. That is why this law suit is ironic. I'm not saying it's not valid, there is a definite similarity. But it is ironic to sue someone who inspired you.

In a world where she wasn't viciously bigoted, Ru and her would have made a fierce team. That was my point. I'm not "trying" anything, I'll leave that to you and Azealia.

I only hear it really in the first minute or so with the line and emphasis on the words, but then it seems to change pretty noticable and the short-short-long speech pattern in Call Me Mother is notably extended from Azealias...But then I think the flow is pretty distinctly different in Call Me Mother past this point sans the repeat at the end - the beat and mood also change entirely for the "break", so its not a direct copy or anything, and courts should come up with good lines for what percentage or other measurement of similarity* can constitute a punishable offense  

To my ears, the "flow" and style of the song (beat, lyrics, mood, etc.) are all very 90s house, voguing track music, which neither Azealia nor Ru invented; they are both stylistically appropriate and could be created without hearing the other based on the different beats they use, as flow and beat can and often do interact in conception...

Questions to consider: How much must be similar or identical to constitute copying? Does RuPaul have any other instances of blatant copying music from other artists? Even small elements? Etc.

Personally, as a musician and future musicologist, I think laws about copyright in music should be a lot more lax, as setting any sort of precedent using an uneducated public is bound to eventually limit creative expression. (yes, simply hearing a "similarity" does not mean it is truly as similar as you think, musically, and is quite subjective itself) I understand the purpose of copyright and intellectual property, but in some cases with small things like this, and in music especially, it's quite accepted that some form of "copying" or sharing, borrowing is inevitable. Literally, its going to be near impossible to be "truly" original or unique in composition of music, especially if we litigate based on perceived similarities and not objective ones
