Listening to RuPaul's song rn... yeah there's no denying it, it's extremely similar and it doesn't seem like a coincidence. I get that the rap industry has a... shall we say, "loose relationship" with crediting the work of others, and that this obviously is not the first or most egregious offense, but jacking a flow is jacking a flow.

this is what rupaul get's for the recent transphobic remarks and rigging the show for eureka (who is racist there is a clip of her saying the n word) to win

Eureka has apologized multiple times for saying it :saladga: it’s time to move on from that.

Bloody hooker

The songs sound nothing alike. Most deep house and pure house songs will have the same structure and pitchy bass lines. This isn’t something new. While listening I Ru’s song, I kept hearing Marky Mark Good Vibrations. Just the rapping, and not the beat.

This mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare.

Damn he should have just asked the girl to perform on the show and paid her royalties.

All of the 1991 EP used already existing songs so it's nothing new

Still bops tho :lolly:

I suppose, still, it would have made more sense if the creator of the instrumental sued Ru for not getting the rights properly if that were the issue

Ru stole the flow and rhythm of Azealia's rap...not the instrumental

Is it sampling when you use the entire thing tho :oprah:

It still is if you give credit to the person who made then original beat and made something of your own from it. Rap thrives off of riffing on beats and music thrives from sampling so using a beat as a baseline to make your own song is different than what I’m hearing Ru did (though I can’t confirm lol)
