Every relationship is different  Sometimes you meet a person that you know you will love regardless of where the relationship may go. Also, break-ups are not only caused by bad stuff like cheating, abuse etc. You can part ways with your partner and still love them and appreciate the impact they had on you.

To anyone criticizing Pete over this, he's not being stupid. He's being impulsive.

Pete is outspoken about having Borderline Personality Disorder. Getting these tattoos probably reflects two of the nine criteria for diagnosing BPD:

1) impulsive behavior

2) idealization of romantic partners

The relationship is young, but he is in love with her. He will go back and forth between intense love and intense doubt or even hate. It's part of the disorder, which he is being treated for. He probably has the more destructive symptoms under control.

I was shocked by the tattoos at first, but he has a lot of tattoos, and it wouldn't surprise me if he documents the ups and downs of his life with body art. I don't think he's blind to the reality that their relationship isn't set in stone. I think he's just making the most of it and appreciating it while he's got it.

I feel for Pete.  His dad was a firefighter who died in 9/11 and Pete uses humor to cope. I do the same with my own humor at times.  Hes a cool guy.
