I don’t get this obsession over pure sales. The money from streams are supposed to be just as good. This isn’t some fan conspiracy, the music industry officials made this change. Why isn’t it officially recognized as much as it should?

Reminder to not expect a Original Score nod for ASIB:

The Academy only nominates instrumental-based scores.

In La La Land's case, half the album was instrumental (even more if you disregard the x1293939 versions of "City of Stars")

Artists make virtually nothing from streaming. They get screwed.

Why is Delicate becoming the 2nd biggest song from Reputation? I love it but I seriously though the era was dead after End Game bombed with Ed and Future on it. It's been a while since a 4th single was bigger than the 2nd and 3rd.

Yeah, but the nothings are actually something, that can be added together, to equal one stream. You think the people behind this move didn’t think this through? If anyone has brought up an actual legitimate big problem from them, we’d be back to pure sales by now

what? maybe if you're an international popstar

to earn minimum wage on spotify you need 380k streams on spotify/2.4m on YT/230k on AM

an unsigned artist only needs to shift 105 album sales to make minimum wage from their own pocket/148 on bandcamp/1,126 on itunes if they're signed
