It means that if someone or something is within striking distance of a place, they are very close to it.

That guy, Chris Sylvia, is Vice President, Media of the Regal Entertainment Group (the second-largest cinema theater circuit in the United States, with over 7,307 screens in 564 theaters as of June 2016, per Wiki).

He's basically saying that ASIB is very close to Venom opening weekend figures taking into account the data he has.
